Audio system ideas, speakers etc

Currently have a setup that's a little aged but honestly sounds pretty good.
Receiver: Yamaha RX-V867
Front: Infinity Primus P362
Center: Some Polk that's actually quite nice.
Rears: Klipsch R24F
Sub: Klipsch SUB-12HG

Alright so, I need ideas for a new system. Currently looking at elac's debut 2.0 system offering which is on half off sale at magnolia. I also have that rx amp and a new C372 NAD integrated.

Alright so, I need ideas for a new system. Currently looking at elac's debut 2.0 system offering which is on half off sale at magnolia. I also have that rx amp and a new C372 NAD integrated.

The Infinity speakers are a terrific value. in fact, my guess is that the Elac Debut speakers is more of a lateral move then an upgrade from the Primus p362 speakers. The midrange driver in the Primus speakers is really very good.
If I were you, I would try to get the infinity Reference 3-way center speaker. That will have a similar trget response to the Primus. You will the front stage speakers to match as much as possible. I don't know what Polk you have, but if it isn't upper tier RTi series or LSi, get a better center. Your subwoofer isn't great as well. Look at what you can get from Outlaw Audio, Monoprice Monolith, SVS, or Hsu Research that you can afford. The 12" subs from any of those companies will be far superior performers to the Klipsch sub.

I was I fact thinking that the elac's would be a lateral move, but I was also imagining that the speakers would all be matched which seems quite nice. Svs currently has the sealed 12 for 399 I believe which is a terrific value, but elac has theirs at 300 and Martin Logans dynamo is also at sub 300 right now. I need something tight and clean, the svs seems to fit the bill for a bargain point right now, I can run with the ported and get the lower frequency increase but I also am more interested in sealed for their precision, nothing and I mean nothing irks me more than subs that are not accurate. The system will be used for all sorts of music as well as home theater. I am also not opposed to running two channel music through my NAD with some good towers and having an additional 5 for my ht

The problem is the room has far more to do with the sub's sound than the design. Some subs are a bit bloated sounding, cheap subs mainly. But really, even the most perfectly performing subs will have its response mutilated by room acoustics. There are ways to address this, though. Sealed subs are not more accurate than a well-designed ported sub, by the way. Don't get hung up on the "sealed is tighter than ported" myth. To be honest, a well-designed ported sub will be more linear than the equivalent sealed design.

If funds are limited for the center which is not really on sale -- then get the R162 bookshelf which is on sale for a real good price, and use one as a center --- the regular center should go on sale soon, if you want to switch

I just checked and the model of my center is a Polk T30. I have a few audio distribution units, such as an elan s86a that handles my main audio throughout my home and basically a spare russound mca-c3 connected to some jbl arena bookshelves. I bought the elac debut 2.0 bookshelves at magnolia for 149, have them hooked up to that NAD integrated and jeez, to my ears, they sound really good. The infinity floorstanders look really good, considering I'm coming off a primus line, they should be a substantial improvement? I do want the matching center for any set I purchase.

The Infinity Reference is on the higher end side -- time to replace the Polk T30 -- as far as the matching center, the Infinity center or the Reference R162 is a match to the towers. ..... If you like the Elac Debut 2.0, then their center is on sale, but many are saying that the sale ends after tomorrow. All in all I would not under-estimate the Infinity Reference -- but it is about what will float your boat, and many tend to like the Elac

Alright, so it's decided. I will grab some infinity reference speakers. One thing I need to note here is that space is limited. I have some bookshelf brackets that can accommodate heavy cabinets. If I purchase the reference bookshelves across the board, and an svs sub, do you think the lower extension would be adequate or are the towers seen as the only true way to go. If I go with bookshelves I can place them roughly 8 feet farther apart and position them towards the true sweet spot, towers will be a little more difficult but possible
