Looks like the thread on these sales last year is from early December so maybe the deals get better.

Somebody needs to buy those A45's. I can only imagine how great they sound!

Ya I bet they do. :). I’m curious if after the new year if they have the newer models since these are all a year old from what the current catalog shows on the Canton website as far as model numbers.

Hope the Pioneer 300(wifi) DAP goes down to $250.00 or less. Don't need it but it looks so cool. Thanks Kurt.
Can someone confirm? I believe the 100 has Wi-Fi as well. From the reading I did it looks like the principal difference between these two units is the 300 has a balanced connection for the headphones whereas the 100 does not. If that is the case I have no preference for the 300 over the 100.

Yes, the 100 has wifi. It also has, with the larger screen, a full Android implementation (i.e., cell phone interface). I updated mine and it does support MQA through a Denon app, but I have no MQA files to test it (nor am I really all that interested).

Thanks for the info! I just ordered one of these!

Then there is this model released last year with basically the same stuff with wifi and + Bluetooth: https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/pionxdp30rb/pioneer-xdp-30r-16gb-digital-audio-player-black/1.html
In case anyone else is looking at these, here are the differences that led me to get the 100r instead of the 30r.

100r pros:
4.7" screen vs 2.5"
Android OS (vs Pioneer's own interface on 30r, which is said to work well, borrowing from Pioneer's automotive screen experience)
1280 X 720 touchscreen

30r pros:
More compact - easier to.slide into pocket
Fully balanced headphone output.
320 X 240 touchscreen

If I had younger eyes, I would probably go with the smaller 30r, but a larger screen is more important than compact form factor for me!
Dropping Android OS makes it exclusively a dedicated audio player and I guess Pioneer decided reducing screen size and resolution allowed for better value in the 30r.

I'm tempted. Here are some reviews of the XDP 100R:

https://www.techhive.com/article/3050941/home-audio/pioneer-xdp-100r-review-this-polished-and-flexible-high-resolution-audio-player-is-loaded-with-feat.html

The reviews were generally positive (they nearly always are, right?); the biggest nitpicks is that this doesn't work as well as it could with macs and the wifi/bluetooth implementation is a bit weak.

I've been wanting a DAP for a while and this ticks a lot of boxes for me (bluetooth aptx, android, lots of storage).

I've been using an ipad for music streaming duty but it is doing a crummy job of syncing properly with iTunes on a Windows 10 machine. I've tried all the fixes without much luck. That's just unacceptable and it may be time to ditch it and move on to an android DAP.

You can always try it and see.
One good thing about these is they are small. IIRC, A4L's policy is you pay shipping costs, which is much less of an expense than it would be for a pair of speakers or a 30 pound AVR.
Double check their policy, but in my dealings with them, they have always been reasonable about helping me while maintaining the protections they need to ensure they don't get abused!

I don't know UPS/FedEx rates very well, but I'd guess that puts it at about a $25-30 gamble!?

PS-No guarantees on this, but I did a return with them and they charged no restocking fee. I'm thinking it was because I changed my mind and wanted to exchange the unit rather than get a refund. However, they also could see over a dozen orders in my account history, so I don't know if that played a factor.

Maybe for you but I’m looking at a $1200 AVR and that’s a lot more. That’s $60 and $35-45 shipped each way.
