4 uls-15 mk2’s vs 4 pb-2000’s

I’m not a hard-core bass head either and I’m not spending 5k on subs but I do want to be hit in the chest on movies. My subs now are 4 bic pl-200’s, they’re good budget subs but imo they’re not true subwoofers. They sound pretty good with the upper end but I think they’re limited in the lower end. I did forget about outlaw, looking at their numbers the x12/vtf2 look comparable and trust me I’d spend less if I’m getting quality. I think anything I get would be an upgrade to what I have now
Three outta my five seats sound great but they’re the middle n other two are closer to the wall. The other two seats sound good but I think I lose some sound cuz that left side of my listening area opens up to the rest of my basement, no boundary on that side. I’m sure if I built a wall there it would take care of it but I’m not building the wall. I can live with how it is and honestly I’m the only one that will ever notice anything cuz anyone else that’s down there just sees how nice the basement looks n thinks everything sounds awesome

Thx shady, appreciate you responding. Sorry man I fell asleep last night to World Series game. I’m just going back n forth trying to decide what to get. Someone else suggested an outlaw sub but that one seems to me that it would be comparable to the vtf2 mk5 right? I would assume both are good subs, this hobby drives me crazy
The Outlaw X12 has performance on the level of the Hsu VTF-2 mk5. The Outlaw X13 is more comparable to the VTF15 or VTF-3.

Thx man. Would it be fair to assume that your advice would be to get the vtf3’s unless there’s another sub you recommend?

What are your thoughts on the vtf2/x12?
The VTF-3s are a great sub, no doubt. You can't go wrong with them. As for the VTF-2 mk5 and X12, they would also be very good subs, but they are not on the level of the VTF-3. However, they are both very high bang for the buck subwoofers.

The vtf3’s are most likely what I’m going to get, this may be a dumb question but I assume 4 vtf2’s would be a huge upgrade over 4 pl200’s?

Only asking because I don’t have a problem buying the vtf3’s but if I bought something less than those I don’t want to have to upgrade with in a couple years, my wife would have my a$$. Rather have the best I can afford now so I don’t have to upgrade again for a long time

Yeah, four VTF-2 mk5s would be a big jump over the PL200s. The PL200s don't really do deep bass well, they are more comfortable at 30 Hz and above. The VTF-2s have significantly more mid bass and a lot more deep bass. The VTF-2's are a lot more linear too, they have a neutral frequency response. The PL200s are good for the price, but they are not in the same league as the VTF-2 mk5.

Do you think I’d feel like I’d need to upgrade from the vtf2s to the vtf3’s if I had the 2s or should I just get the vtf3’s now n stop messing around?

To give the Hsu some performance perspective, the VTF-3 subs have about 50% more deep bass output below 30 Hz and roughly 100% more output at 30 Hz and above. The VTF-3 is a very high bang for the buck subwoofer in terms of performance.

I would make the jump to the VTF-3s if it can be afforded. They are a big step up from the VTF-2s.

Is there any way to hook up an old equalizer to these new receivers?
You would need to place the equalizer in the signal chain before an analog input on the receiver. That means it can only be used on one of the input channels. Higher-end AVRs can sometimes have equalizers built into their processing software, and this would affect almost all of the inputs. You could also place an outboard equalizer after a pre-out on the AVR and send the equalized signal to an outboard amplifier, and that would EQ any of the sound coming from the AVR, of course.

Yea my Yamaha 860 obviously has the peq but I’ve got an old equalizer sitting around and I didn’t know if I would be able to get it hooked up so it was in use all the time

Why eq just two channels, tho? PEQ in Yamaha I'd think is more capable, too.

You could EQ with the older unit, but it wont optimal with limited bands.

Yes I agree. I didn’t know if the old eq would be able to eq all the channels not just two
And I don’t totally understand how to use the manual peq setting on the Yamaha
