Not sure what it is,but I’ve noticed that Tom Cruises films tend to have great soundtracks.
I'm still waiting for his "Edge of Tomorrow" to be released in Atmos. :D

One thing that crossed my mind is that there are many movies that have no business being remastered in Atmos and there are many movies that should be re-released in Atmos that have not.

I can't say I am a great fan of Matthew McConaughey ever since Contact, where he really irritated me, even more that the film. Inception is a lot better, from an enjoyment point.

I think the real problem for you there is 2010 for Inception and 2014 for Intersellar are the causes. I think the earliest I have seen an actual Atmos or Dts:X is 2015. Certainly nothing I have is before there. It could be future version are remixed or in house up mixed to include an Atmos/Dts:X. However it is odd as both Gravity and Oblivion are 2013 and Gravity in particular was boasted as having an impressive Atmos track.

I agree. I think if the inmates could take over the asylum, we would have some amazing tracks on films that are deserving. I would love to sit in on some of the meetings where they hash this stuff out.

Btw. I can’t find the post where you quoted my reference to emo and Mac being beautiful. I didn’t really think that one through very far lol! But I mostly meant those bluuuuuuu.....

Well if Oblivion can get an Atmos from 2014 there is no reason Edge of Tomorrow (2014) couldn't, they are both the same year.

Iirc, gravity was “re-released” later with an Atmos track. My BD copy has an hdma track. For now...

I saw "Gravity" in Atmos at the Atmos commercial theater back in 2013. So I hope "Interstellar" was also in Atmos.

I can understand for a sales/up sell point where the 4K UHD discs must have an Atmos and sometimes also a Dts:X track. I don't understand why if this is available, you would then remaster in Dts HDMA just for the bluray, either the included or separate release. It would promote the formats far more that relying on pure UHD sales.

This is a first world problem for sure and we are near the cutting edge, but we are the "fools" needed to establish the content market.

As the market matures I am sure the back catalog will be fully raided. If the audio track components are held digitally, which I am sure most modern ones are. Then a smallish amount of money and engineer's time should see a good Atmos/Dts:X release. :D

Okay, commercial break time. :D

Yeah, I figured you meant the blue lights imitation - kind of like imitation blue cheese. :D

If Emo actually looked like Mac, it would be a totally different story. :D

I seem very shallow saying this (and most likely offend some people),but some of these people should hire experts to name their companies.

Why name your company "Emotiva" that sounds like "Emo" which makes a lot of people think of "emotional and crying" or "punk rock"?

Why name your company "Monoprice" that sounds so cheap like a Dollar General store?

Why name your company "KIA" when in the military, KIA stands for Killed In Action?

If I start an amp company I'll just name it WMD = Weapons of Mass Destruction. :D

Or MOAB = Mother of All Bombs. :D

OK, commercial break over. :D

Yeah, since Atmos and DTSX are backward compatible, they should make all the BD versions Atmos/DTSX. I don't get why they make both DTS-HD MA/TrueHD and DTSX/Atmos releases.

I think the back catalogue will get raided for sure, but it will depend on what stems are there and how the original mix was done for whether the mix will turn out good. Some of the old stuff was mixed without much regard to actual reality vs modern tracks that focus on more pinpoint imaging, actually tied to the action. And yep, first world indeed. I’m damn lucky to live there!

Exactly. I even think "Edge of Tomorrow" was released in Atmos when it came out in theaters.

So it makes no sense to me why they have not released the BD in 4K/Atmos.

Yes but what is really odd is if the UHD mix was done with the Dolby tool set, why then switch to the competition for the bluray mix. Surely if you are just messing with us for the money would it not be cheaper to just extract the True HD?

Found this list of films (cinema releases) which have the Atmos to start with. Edge of Tomorrow is there. :p
https://www.dolby.com/us/en/cinema/theatrical-releases.html
Oh man, I am so disappointed that "Interstellar 2014" was NOT released in Atmos commercially.

I thought the "Interstellar" soundtrack was amazing. Cannot believe it was never in Atmos!

But I am VERY glad that "Edge of Tomorrow" was released in Atmos. Now the studio people need to get off their a$$ and re-release the BD in Atmos! Man, these people are LAZY. :D

Has anyone seen any movies in DTSX at a commercial theater equipped with DTSX? :D

I was going to say Fast and Furious 8 which is Dts:X on the bluray but apparently that too is on the Dolby Atmos list. o_O

I'm not too impressed with DTSX thus far. They seem so far behind Atmos in every aspect. Even their website sucks compared to the Atmos website.

I was looking that theatrical DTSX release info on the DTS website. They only list movies in 2015. What about 2016-2019?
