That means it's not at it's usual sale price that we've seen. It'll go down to the $799 mark at some point later.
I remember seeing the X4200W went that low but not the X4300H that has two additional channels. I suspect the lowest the 4300/4400 would eventually go down to $899 but not lower, we'll see.

Amazon and someone else had the x4300h at $799 for a bit. I got mine cheaper than that...

Wow, I missed that then, was it from authorized dealer with 3 years Denon warranty too?
Yep, you could buy them through Amazon or from our own DigtalDawn. I'd guess it lasted about 2 weeks as the feeding frenzy snow-balled!
You must have been on vacation! Anyone who came close to posting "I need a new receiver" was advised to just buy that! LOL!
If you really played your cards right, you could have gotten one for $699!

The good thing is, even if I was around, DigitalDawn wouldn't have sold me one at that price and shipped to Ontario anyway. The thing weight a little over 30 lbs bare (specs says 29.8 lb) and closer to 40 lbs in the box so shipping could cost $100, and then the import duties, taxes etc. etc. But yeah I am surprised to know it could be bought for only $799 because right now Bestbuy, New Egg, Amazon, and others are selling it for $999 to $1599. That's the reason I resisted it went with infinitely more affordable 3400 in the first place.

Well, last year it looks like August 1 was when the clearance discounts started. I wonder when it will happen this year!

I picked up a Marantz SR6012 for 750. It's not a replacement for my 5100 setup, but for 750 it is fine. The remote is on the cheap side, the menus are sluggish and the front facia is somewhat plasticy.

However it is a 9 channel amp with flexible assignments, sound is good and if it doesn't get used as a 2nd system it will be my possible Atmos speakers driver. I particularly like the internet radio implementation which is much better than the Yamaha's. Heos looks to be annoying, although it is getting the Airplay 2 update and eARC at some point. Only downside compared to the 7012 appears to be the absence of Auro3D and a little less power. I would place it at the Denon 4400 level rather than 3400 or at least between the pair.

Having looked at the incoming potential replacements 7013/6013 there is not enough benefit for 1500 mark.

That's a great deal too for a Marantz. I agree the 6012 is much closer to the 4400 overall. The audio specs of the 4400 is about the same as that of the 7011/7012 but that's really just on paper imo.
