Beginner Setup and Options

Hello. I am new to the forum and sure this has been asked a million times, but any input or help would be greatly appreciated. My wife made the mistake of letting me design and set up the basement tv room in our new house. Obviously, I hope it will be loud and sound great.

I am currently running a budget 5.1 set up from my college days, with Infinity Entra Three towers and surrounds, and a Denon receiver with 50 WPC with 2 channels driven. I wanted to make some upgrades and future proof the set up. This is what I was thinking, and any input is greatly appreciated.

My room has low ceilings, approximately 7 feet. Basically rectangular at 14 x 30 ft.

I wanted to get into the separate processor/amp game. My dad is getting rid of two old amps, a Crown Powerline Two (50 WPC 2 channel) and a Yamaha MX-55 (40 WPC 4 channels) that I could use for the time being. I was thinking about the Anthem AVM60 to pair with these. That way, it seems relatively future proof and I can upgrade to a beefier amp later if needed.

For speakers, I was going to go with the Revel Concerta2 lineup driven by the F36 towers. Two SVS sealed 2000 subs. I hear good things about the Revels. I listen to a lot of two channel audio as well and home theater, so these seem to be a good compromise for both worlds.

Any help or throughts are appreciated.

The F36 is very capable even before adding the subs. Those SB2000 subs are like bringing a knife to a gun fight. If you prefer sealed over ported look at HSU ULS15... There is a review on this site. Good luck! :)

hahone -- You're talking about a beginning cash outlay of $6500 (preamp, speakers, subs) or so. All the potential items you mentioned have high review ratings. I don't see how you could go wrong with your selections. I will say that I have heard great things about the Marantz preamp (example AV8802A). I saw a VIDEO (start at about 2:57) where a Music Direct official said it was the only preamp they carry because it was so musical, and the interviewer enthusiastically agreed with him. Good luck.
