Any Nielsen Participants Here?

Folks, got an extensive Nielsen survey in the mail the other day. Had a friend many years ago that participated. I really don't mind filling out the questionnaire. However, I do NOT want to receive a ton of unsolicited mail either.

Any members here ever filled out the Nielsen questionnaire? If so, did you end up getting a lot of unsolicited mail afterwards? Mine has 32-pages of questions. Not looking to get a ton of spam in my email as well. Just curious if anyone here has ever participated and what was his/her experience afterwards. Thanks!

Cheers,

Phil

Spam can be filtered for the most part. But, US Postal mail is another story. As mentioned, I do not mind to fill out the questionnaire, but a bit concerned what will happen to my personal data. Obviously they have my mailing address that was supposedly selected at random. However, on the last page of the form they want more specific info including name, address, and my personal email address. That is why I posted this thread. Perhaps, there are a few members here that have participated, no?

I don't think Lee-Nielsen ever bothered me with spam, but they do stand behind their product. I threw a small block plane one time doing edge work and bent the threaded brass spin wheel. They sent a replacement, no questions asked, or money charged.

If you're willing to fill out a 32 page questionnaire, it's not unreasonable for them to think you'd be willing to do more in the future.

It's voluntary participation. If you take the time to fill it out I'd expect they'd want you to do more surveys. I don't think you'd get more spam mail than you already do, but you'll at least get more from them.

Getting more from Nielsen would be alright I suppose. Just not looking for a bunch of surveys from other studies. Otherwise, I would prefer to opt out. Most of the time it is better to error on the side of caution. Not sure just yet if I am going to participate. Still thinking about it.

I have participated several times in the past with TV watching habits. Never noticed any junk mail afterwards due to that survey. I would seriously doubt they would sell any information other than a statistical data about what the survey responders told them, nothing about an specific individual, just an age groups and such.
Don't remember product surveys from them.

Thanks a bunch. Will keep this in mind. You make for some very good points here. It is most appreciated.

You thought I was referring to spam online? Oh, sorry.

I knew what you meant. Been a very long time since I ate Spam. My older brother loves it. He still eats it quite often. Me-not so much! Nothing wrong w/a little humor on a slow day.
