I am wanting to add a power amp to my RX-A1060 Yamaha AVR. My speaker system is all Klipsch; RP-450 center, set of RP-280 fronts, set of RP-160M surrounds, set of RP-160M zone 2, set of R-15M overhead and two R10 subs. I am looking at either a Yamaha MXA5000 Aventage or a Emotiva XPA-7 G3. With the Yamaha I have the option to power all my speakers, bi-amp my floor speakers and have the matching option if I upgrade my AVR to more channels in the future. The Emotiva would give me all the power I would ever want on my main channels. I can actually buy the Yamaha for $300 USD less than the Emotiva. So the question is which amp will give me the best sound out of my speakers. I am not looking to blow out any windows, but will the extra power out of the Emotiva convert into better sound quality? I don't need options for different amps, I am between these two amps because of Logistics and buying options for where I am located.

Well I am bending towards the Yamaha. So you don't think I need the extra channel power or is there quality issues at play as well? Thanks for your response.

It’s supremely pointless to get outboard amplification for speakers as efficient as Klipsch. You do know they can be driven to ear-bleeding levels with only 50 watts (and probably even less that that)? There is no advantage or gain for additional power that’s never used.

No, as Wayne pointed out Klipsch speakers are very easy to drive, but I do feel the bass benefits from better/bigger/more amps than are found in an AV Receiver.

Id spend that money on real subs first...
Or more subs, but depending on your budget, bass might be more of a priority - or something to be added to the budget... you've already freed up an extra $300!

Agreed. Always about priorities in HT.

I would like to mention to the OP that biwiring is a waste of copper, money and it does absolutely nothing to improve sound quality.
