Yeah, I’m dumb. Oops. I thought that was higher than I remembered being correct. Thanks for catching me.
Maybe 400 now and 400 later would work for you.

I bought a used pair of Ascend Acoustic 170s. Trying to find a good sub or subs to go with them.

I have a few Ascends....LCR set of Sierra1s with NrT, pair of 170SE, 2 pair of 200SE. Still have tweeters from replacing them for NrTs....will build a set of speakers for those one of these days.

I kinda like the ratio of speaker to sub you're considering, but what speaker plans do you have down the line? Center? Surrounds? What avr do you have now or are you doing that now as well? More info the better advice I think....

Ya, I'm just starting my system. I got used pair of 170s for LR to start. Will likely add a 340 center eventually, then either get 340 LR and move the 170s to the rears. I have a Denon 3300w. So plans will be to build a 5.2.2 system. Looking for subs to add to my 170s to start. Then fill in the rest over time. Any thoughts?

Or I may keep the 170s as my LR, then get a pair of 200s for surrounds.

Good plan I think for 340SE across the front and moving the 170s to surrounds (not 170SE, actual original 170s). My Sierra1s are my LRC and my 170SEs are surrounds in my bedroom 5.2 setup. Always wanted to try the 340SE but never did. That avr should do it well enough, good that its out of the way as long as you're going to work into its capabilities down the line....otherwise a bit of a mismatch with a pair of 170s :)

That sounds like a nice setup!

Ya, my AVR was bought knowing I will add to my system over time.
I do have the 170 SE speakers. Will those be more than enough for my small room? Looking to add subs next. Just looking for a good deal on one or two subs. Will add the others after subs.

I forgot the question mark on the 170SE vs 170 but you got it :) Didn't have the older model either. I think they'll work to start as long as your spl demands aren't too great. Used sub hunting can be hit and miss, maybe you have a good metro area with some choice....I'd wait forever where I am. Maybe one sub to start would help you get the rest of the speakers sooner but how much of a basshead are ya? :)

Not a huge bass head. But do like the bass to be there on movies and what not:). Any recommendations.

Think they've been mentioned already. :) I do like a center so one sub and center up front sounds better than two subs before the center....

That's good to know. Ya in was kind of thinking about getting a center because there is alot that goes through that for movies for sure. Would the Sierra 1 be much better center than the 340 From Ascend?

The 340 I think would make a better center.

If you're still looking, I have a brand new PB12-NSB I'm selling. It's too big for my space...I ended up buying the SB12-NSB. Better fit for me, my room.

I may be interested. I just ordered an RSL speed woofer to use in my small space to see how it works out. I have read good things about the speed woofer for small and medium sized rooms. How much are you selling your PB12?

Basshead and quality bass are not as interchangeable as you may think. A quality sub is a requirement for a good system (with a few exceptions) . In HT a quality sub gives you that impact that most are expecting.
Let us know how the RSL performs in your room.

Yep, will definitely let you know my thoughts. It's got a free 30 day trial. I think it should be here tomorrow. Looking forward to it!
