I have not checked if his receiver has preouts. That would be a solution though. You would want to run the speakers full range though and not cross them over.
I just checked and the Onkyo sr805 does have pre-outs. So, I can connect L/R pre-outs to KUBE and then a amplifier..
The Onkyo sr805 is rated at 130 watt/channel 8 ohms. I saw the sensitivity of the KEF 105/3 is also quite high, so it should not need that much power. I am tempted to connect them to the sr805 just to listen to them. Do you think I will blow the receiver?
I was also looking at the Pioneer - Elite 2200W which is on sale for 2500$ and refurb is 1500$. Do you think I can use this receiver to connect them directly without KUBE. If I do use the KUBE I may have to but another amplifier for the front L/R for the 105/3.
Any amplifiers on sale for black friday. Thanks

Of course it wouldn't blow the receiver just listening to the speakers. Turn the volume up high enough and things could happen...

I don't think you'll find an avr that has the necessary connections for your Kube eq without using an external amp. Cheaper to just buy a dedicated amp...as I mentioned a Crown XLS1502 would be a good and relatively inexpensive way to go....

Never heard of them. Nice price, tho. It's been holding at $400 for a while now at most places the few times I've checked. I got my best prices on my XLS1500s (gen 1) just as gen 2 came out (the 1502) but somewhat doubt there's a pending gen 3 to make that happen again :)

If I remember right, some time back someone posted that there was in fact an AVR that can do that, also iirc, it was an old Onkyo model. Not that it matters, just thought it was very interesting when I read about it.

Seriously, I have no life.
Just got Denon AVRX6400H 1649.99 (price match to amazon) and Crown XLS1502 (525W at 4 Ohm) 336.35 (price match to automationsource) from B&H and no tax.
Now I have to buy speaker wires. Was looking at these
https://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-14AWG-4-Conductor-Speaker-White/dp/B0193RRW4M/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1511534175&sr=8-6&keywords=speaker+wire+14/4&th=1
Should I go with 14-4 or 12-4.
also looking for a good turntable.
Thanks a lot to all for helping me put it together.
That will make a nice rig.

Get the wire you need from mono price. Get the 12 AWG wire length you need.

You probably need the two wire as the speakers are spaced. Forget bi-wiring and bi-amping.

A good entry turntable is the U-Turn custom.

Order it in the color you want and with lift and Ortofon Red Cartridge.

If your receiver does not have an RIAA compensated phono input then you need to add a phono preamp.

That is about the best and lowest price entry rig that will give you good results.

Make sure you set those nice KEFs to large in the setup menu.

Been a very long time, maybe pre or just about pre-digital?

Does XLS1502 allow biamping?

The XLS 1502 allows for active bi-amping if you buy two amps, but not sure your speakers do....and I wouldn't bother passive bi-amping.

Which plug to use that connects pre-out from the 6400H to the KEF KUBE and from KUBE to the XLS 1502. I am planning to get 14-4 wire and connect two wires together to make it 11G as suggested by Gene in the youtube video..

They're rca type plugs on coax cables that you'd use between the 6400 to the Kube and from the Kube to the 1502, but you don't use them with speaker wire like Gene referred to; you'd use the speaker wire from the output of the XLS1502 to the speakers...

ps and from the output of the 1502 you can use either bare wire ends or a banana plug or a speakon connector...

I might have mixed that up with something else as I thought you were the one who made that post.

Will do a search regardess, time permitting, just for fun.

You might be thinking of the active crossover abilities of a particular Onkyo instead....that I think we corresponded about.

No, you would need two of them. Unless you are going to totally reconfigure that speaker system for active electronic crossover, and you need good chops for that, forget it. Passive biamping is a total waste of time and money. People also make mistakes and blow gear up.

Just connect the Crown to the left and right front preouts and connect the KEF KUBE and the KEF KUBE to the Crown power amp and the Crown to your nice KEF speakers. Stop over egging the cake and creating trouble. We have steered you in the right direction. Now follow the instructions we have given, relax and enjoy the music.

Planning to get the RCA Coaxial cables from monoprice. But they are 22AWG. Does AWG matter for these cables

That must be it, sorry about the confusion. The Kube 200 is sort of like an active XO too, maybe that's why I was thinking about that Onkyo

For line level stuff like that, 22 is just fine for the distances involved (assuming short with all gear together). 11g is a bit overkill on the speaker wire unless you've got some really long distances altho I usually do a bit of overkill myself as I just buy a reel of 12g to cover all my needs with one purchase.

No worries, but imagine there were a coupla avrs that used to have those connections at some point...some even had digital outs for a while.
