Marvel The Punisher on Netflix

I know what most of your are probably thinking, NOT ANOTHER MARVEL SHOW, so many of them have been terrible as of late. Inhumans, Iron Fist, Defenders (not that bad). I definitely feel Marvel has redeemed itself here and put together one of the best series, marvel, or otherwise, on Netflix.

Jon Bernthal: By far the best actor to dawn the punisher role. He has taken the depth of this character to another level. He portrays the pain, the anger and violence to the point you can feel every bit of emotional struggles the character is going through.

The series takes the time to really delve into his backstory, understand the pain of losing his family and what drives him to do the things that they do. The supporting cast is such an important part of the story as you see the effects of PTSD, the struggles people go through to adapt back to normal society.

Conspiracy theorists lovers will appreciate the plot line, corrupt governments and individuals, and political aspects of the story. Yes this has all been done before, I just think they do it better in this series.

Yes, you have the bloody kill fests punisher is known for in the comics, but there is a lot more to that, I give the series so far an A

My only minor complaint is that there can sometimes be too many story lines going on at the same time make episodes the spread to thin, but some of the best acting more than makes up for it.

Agreed. Great show. Big step away from really crappy Iron Fist. This is probably one of, if not the darkest, bloodiest and gory Marvel series yet.

Just saw Punisher S01E01. Best darn pilot I’ve ever seen. Period. :D

Makes JJ, LC, and IF look like pure crap.

 Wait, we agree on a TV series!!!! :p:p

It is soo good, I did manage to waste my weekend, the last 3 episodes are insane!!!

It will definitely answer the question, is it the darkest, bloody gore filled Marvel Series to date.

I watched The Punisher. It was fine for what it was, although not as much action as I was expecting. It also handled the politics of its situation strangely. It wanted to revel in violence yet condemn it at the same time. Netflix and Marvel is having a hard time making its 'Death Wish' tone morally palatable to modern vewiers. To be honest I think I like Jennifer Jones, Daredevil, and Luke Cage better, because those had better characters. I wish these seasons were shorter, by the way, there is an awful lot of filler to stretch this series out to 13 episodes. The central story does not support that many episodes.

Hey don't throw Luke Cage in the there. It's a bit better than others, but yeah, Punisher is on whole higher level. Like comparing Middle-school and Royal National Theatre of London plays.

I've only seen E01-06.

Of course, everyone has a different opinion, it seems quite polarizing opinions. :D

I thought some moments in Punisher were a little predictable.

But so far I didn't see any lame slow agonizing wasted moments I've seen in JJ, IF, LC, and Defenders.

So far I thought Punisher is fast-paced and exciting. E02-06 didn't have the same intense action as E01. But they were still exciting and fast - E02-06 seemed extremely fast to me compared to most of JJ, IF, LC, and Defenders.

Ok. It's good, but lets not idealize it, scenes between Frank and Micro's Wife are awkward at best, slow and don't add much content to main story or help advancing it. Not to mention predictable.

/Agree it's definitely not perfect, I see what they were trying to do with Frank and Micro's wife. It helped Frank stay in touch with his human side where he could at least pretend to be a normal person. The scene with her son and him and the knife was kinda over the top.

Okay, I will not idealize it. :D

I was only comparing against JJ, LC, IF, Defenders.

I would not put Punisher in the same league as Game of Thrones, American Gods, Breaking Bad.

I would put Punisher in the same league as DD.

It’s funny how certain scenes in different shows rub us the wrong way.

I didn’t mind the little scenes between Frank & Micro’s wife, but I couldn’t stand all the little scenes in JJ, LC, IF, Defenders.

I think DD has little scenes that probably rub some people the wrong way also, but I didn’t mind either.

Okay, I’ll admit that E06 & E07 were kind of boring. :D

Hopefully the rest will be more exciting.

But so far, E01 is the best one.

Overall, except for E01, I think DD is better than Punisher.

I think they do need to focus a lot more on Punisher and a whole lot less on those sorry federal agents and their families.

Well done for what it is, but not sure I'd bother with another season....

I’ve now seen the entire S01.

My final overall impression is that Punisher is almost as good as Daredevil, and these 2 shows are the only ones in this Defender series that would care to watch.

I was expecting a lot more hardcore cool scenes, so I am a little disappointed.

I think it would have been better if it were done by Starz or HBO.

If you like bloody violence, watch the movie Punisher: War Zone with Ray Stevenson. It is a lot more stylized and comic-ish than the Netflix Punisher, but it is extremely violent, much more so than the Netflix show. It's better than the Dolph Lundgren or Thomas Jane Punisher movies.

I've seen both (Ray Stevenson & Thomas Jane versions). I like them both.

They need to make new Punisher movie. :D

LOL, how much hardcore bloodbaths do you need, I thought it had plenty. What I appreciated most, is that it really got into the character development of Frank Castle and his backstory. The last three episodes were an awesome display of hardcore IMO.

Also agree the Ray Stevenson is more like the Punisher MAX Comic version, thought it was a much better representation of the punisher than Thomas Jane, but I liked Thomas Jane as the Punisher more, so did like both.

As for Punisher, it is still my favorite Marvel Series, DD was really hard for me to get into season one, and only got me interested when Punisher entered in season 2. I really dislike the actor that plays Froggy.

Seriously, I hated Froggy too- but the character, not the actor himself. I don't generally like superhero stuff so I have very low expectations watching this stuff, but I liked the DD shows, perhaps because I was expecting the worst. It did have relatively good martial arts choreography instead of just a bunch of CGI action scenes, and that is what surprised me. I also liked the villain Wilson Fisk and Electra. I was surprised at how brutal season 2 was as well. It seemed like it was more violent than the Punisher show. I think the Punisher is better as a side character or villain. He is a more interesting character that way. I seriously wish the Punisher was not the protagonist in the Punisher show.
