Apologies if this might seem a bit amateur but really need some sound advice.

I have an LG 4K TV, Xbox One X and a Samsung HT-H4500R 5.1 Surround Sound System (Home Theatre in a box type).

I currently have my set-up as HDMI from Xbox one to TV and Optical from Xbox to Samsung Surround. This set-up works fine but I wanted to connect the reciever via HDMI as I want the benefits of DTS. My problem is this, there is only one HDMI port on the receiver. Is there any way I get surround sound via HDMI to the TV/Xbox and how. Thanks.

Welcome!

However, I am sorry to say there is no other way to connect than what you've already done. The receiver does not have any HDMI inputs and the ARC channel won't work if both TV and HTiB are not HDMI 1.4a or higher and the TV can allow the pass through.

Maybe save for boxing day?
