I currently have a Yamaha RX-V377 5.1 amp. I want to update to a 4k tv, and my current amplifier has only 4 hdmi 1.4 in and 1 out. Do I need to upgrade to HDCP 2.2 to get 4k video and audio? I have a cable box, nvidia shield tv, and apple tv plugged into the amp now and would like to stream 4k content from these. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You would need to either connect your devices (cable, shield, apple tv) straight to tv and use audio out from tv to receiver or keep same connectivity and upgrade the receiver to one supports UHD. Make sure model would support hdmi 2.0 AND HDCP 2.2.

If I swap out the old tv with a new 4k tv with keeping my current receiver will my receiver allow 4k video passthrough at 30fps as I have read somewhere else?

1.4 can carry 4k, however, if you dont have hdcp 2.2, 4k content won't be displayed.

Does all 4k content need hdcp 2.2? Also if I purchase a receiver that has 4 hdmi ins all hdcp 2.2, will I be able to use my PS3 through these ports, obviously not for 4k content but just 1080p content?
