hi,
can anyone help me with the following:
have a setup - projector panasonic pt-ae8000/ processor -anthem avm60/bluray - panasonic dmp-ub900. source sends the 1080p signal to avm60 to bypass. processor send the signal to 1080p projector via a 15meter 4k compatible hdmi cable. initial start up is a green or a static screen. to avoid the green screen I have to swap between each hdmi input using the projector remote. eventually will get the video signal. swapped the cables, swapped the projector with a 1080p monitor, swapped the hdmi outs and in of the processor, swapped the bluray with a new similar bluray, tried a 15meter fibre optic hdmi cable, updated all firmware on all devices, changed projector and bluray signal locked down to 1080p/i, with NO LUCK....
the only way I get a video signal is 1) connecting the bluray directly to the projector using the same 15meter hdmi cable 2) running the 3 devices - (projector -processor-bluray) connected with a hdmi 15meter cable and changing the bluray and projector's colour format setting to RGB from YPbPr/YCbCr to bypass via the avm60.
any advice/help would be greatly appreciated since I have run out of troubleshooting options...?
thanks

If the cable is Redmere, you need something else- I replaced a Redmere last week that stopped working for 1080 and as soon as I connected the passive one, it worked.

BTW- 15m is a long way for HDMI- it was never designed to work over that distance. The HDMI landscape is changing and I think it may be a bumpy ride, as if it hasn't been, already.

Until you get it sorted out, turn the equipment on in this order and if it helps, great-
1) Power ON- Projector/display
2) Power ON- Amplifier/AVR/Pre-pro
3) Power ON- the source devices.

If this doesn't help, power off the projector and wait about 15 seconds before turning it on again.

thanks!
cable is not a Redmere. it is a passive cable. works fine when connected it directly to the source and the display.

agree, tried by replacing 15m hdmi cable with a 15m fibre hdmi cable. no luck with that either.

tried as you have suggested above (power on) steps (1,2,3) and power off steps (3,2,1) with no luck. also done the power off the projector for more than 15mins. still no joy.

I believe its the hdcp handshake that is not happy when a signal hits the processor to the projector. any thoughts..? thanks

bypass the processor. If it works with just the player and projector you know where the issue is. I had something similar with my old Onkyo. HDMI board was the cause. Once I got it replaced it hasn't had that issue again.

Your HDMI run is much longer than it should be. 8m is about your limit and not 15m.

found the answer, anthem tech (the best) asked me to try and fix anthem's general settings - hdmi standby pass through to "on" so the hdmi handshake is pretty much established while the anthem's power is off. this sorted the handshake issue. thanks to all who pitch in to sort this issue. special thanks to anthem support tech - Brendan. awesome work !!

The joys of HDMI- they came up with a standard without knowing what equipment would be used, how it would be used and worse- they didn't care. They were only concerned with a way to copy protect their crappy movies, which are often a 5th generation copy with new faces and (dubiously) more impressive special effects.

Awesome that that was the answer. Nice when it is something easy.
