The only headphones ive had or even listened to are my plantronics backbeat pro noise cancelling wireless headphones, i am definitely a beginner. I couldnt tell a "warm" sound from a "bright" sound, and i dont even know what a "V shaped" sound is. I've been looking at selling these headphones and buying a nice pair of open back wired headphones. Im going to be listening to mainly 70s music (eagles, CCR, lynyrd skynyrd, etc.) and i almost value comfort above sound. are there any upgrades from the headphones i have worth my money that are under 250$?

I have a number of pairs of Sennheiser in the family. Pick your price point, they should have a pair there.
Can't go wrong with Sennheiser.
I also bought a set of Hyperx Cloud 2 headphones for gaming. What I learned from those headphones is that they are freakin' excellent for music as well. The OP mentioned comfort as his 1st choice of attributes. The Hyperx Cloud headphones are made to be worn for hours and hours while gaming. They are easily the most comfortable headphones I own. They also sound really good. Of course, YMMV, caveat caveat caveat

Thanks for the help but has anyone here heard the backbeat pros and can tell me if any of these headphones are better than these? I dont wanna buy a new pair of headphones only for it to be a sidestep.

Also, opinions of the audio-technica ath-ad900x?

I have not heard BackBeat Pros, but I did use other Plantronics wireless noise canceling headset. I thought they were decent, but very overpriced for what they are.
I have not heard ath-ad900x, they look good enough, but I could tell you that I did hear Audio-Technica ATH-M50x and I didn't liked their sound not a bit. They sounded muddy in midrange and bass sounded bad.
