Good day fellas. I pray everyone is doing good.I need your advise. I am currently using a Lexicon Mc-12 for my movies and Music as well. I listen to Music 80% . I am in search for stereo or 2 channel preamp that is better than the Lex but not to break a Bank. Does anyone knows about any stereo preamp better than the Lex? Your help will be appreciated.

Well let's see. If I owned an ancient :D Lexicon and wanted to upgrade to something that will sound better than the Lexicon for music (Dynamic EQ), I would get the $1,500 Denon X4300 AVR on sale for $800 brand new.

If I only wanted to spend less, then I would get the $1,000 Denon X3300 on sale for $600 brand new, which I think also sounds better than the Lexicon for music (Dynamic EQ).

Thanks for your input. But i don't think a Denon receiver can beat the Lexiocn Mc-12 with an Emotiva Amplifier. Besides i'm looking for only dedicated 2 channel preamp or integrated amplifier and nothing with a surround sound processor.

Why is your Lexicon, if so good, lacking for mere 2ch?

It's because the Lexicon is a pre-pro.

And all Pre-pros and AVR will never sound as good as an integrated amp or 2ch preamp for 2ch music.

Don't you know? :D

Why, back when I owned the class-A analog 2ch Acurus preamp and Bryston preamp, nothing could ever stand up to it for 2ch music. They were the best 2ch music player ever.

IMHO..
Depends upon the source components..
If vinyl is a crucial factor than the most pertinent circuit within the stereo pre-amp is the phono circuit. If the majority of sources are a high-level L/R line output I don't think there will be that much sonic difference once U have a quality preamp front end...

Just my $0.02.. ;)

It is very good but one thing i know is, a dedicated stereo preamp or an integrated 2 channel will sound better.
Nonsense in my experience. I have two 2ch preamps (integrated amps are just receivers without a tuner after all, we always poo poohed integrated amps as a cheap alternative to separates back in the day LOL), and have several avrs in the house, too. The whole 2ch pure thing is mostly marketing.

I think your sarcasm is lost on this one.

You can't convince people (okay there are some exceptions:D), they have to find out for themselves after spending tons of money and time/years, like some of us have done..

That's what I'm thinking.

People have to pave their own roads and learn their own lessons.

It only cost me about $200K, but hey, I'm there now. :D
