Yup. I get a lot of that when I bust out my google-fu. Most shops are install only or appointment only. Many don't even have showrooms. I never tried, but I assume appointment only would be for serious buyers. I'm just out to listen to stuff.

Yeah, to me "appointment only" just seems a little presumptuous.

In reality, they are likely a small operation so that don't have people staffing the office all the time.

But, I really don't like the perception that it gives.

Mine does too,could be age, but I don't notice it but in the bottom left corner with a dark screen...but for $1400 in the box it was a better deal than the 850.

I'm not a big enough TV/movie watcher to venture into anything more than what I bought...if anything, when the 60" plasma finally plays out, I'd like to go with a 75" there...sitting 13' away.

I'm a gamer, XBOX One is my first choice of systems.

So, I like a large nice TV!

My Sammy LCD is going on 10 years old! I paid like $2200 for a 52". I was the first person that I know that actually sprung for a large panel HDTV, b/c they were still pricey back then.

Now, the OLED is about that same price range for about that same size.

On a side note, I still have my first HDTV, 26" Samsung LCD, I paid $600 USED!

That is comforting confirmation. Everyone is nervous when we dole out a wad of $$.

Tell me about it...I think you've made a fairly safe and quality choice. Revel is known worldwide for their R&D & testing facility, and high end commitment, we hope that continues under Samsung's rein. The dealer network could be a little better, the F208 has gotten nothing but rave reviews from owners and pro reviewers.

I'm buying a pair custom speakers with a great reputation but no dealer network to hear them...Just based on the drivers in the speakers I bought there is some level of comfort they should be flat, but until you hear them, I think it's normal to be a little uneasy.

My brother in law may be a gamer or his son I think...They bought one of the 2nd gen OLED LG set and they had some burn in issues. IDK if it was attributed to gaming or not, but they took the set back and replaced it with a Sony LED.

Large...yep, I'm all in...the 65" in the sunroom is great for the people on the sofa (8-10' away) but the lounge chairs (the prime seats) are 14-15' away and I wish I had gone with 75".

We had a Sony LCD 42" in the master and when my mother-n-law moved out, we turned that into a 2nd guest room and move the 42" there...the 55" Sony we replace is much, much better on the eyes watching from the bed.

Go big!

I sold TVs back when you got yours. The money you paid for that would buy a VERY good set now.

I'm partial to Sony just because my cheap 55" looks so good for the $700 I paid for it.

OLED is where it's at, but with the concern for longevity I won't be getting one until my Panasonic VT60 dies.

If you want a big screen, can't go wrong with a PJ. Finally got my room in a usable, but under construction state. I had forgotten how immersive the 120" screen is.

The appointment only/install only operations is what I had to deal with when I got my Speakercraft speakers for the theater. Nobody demos them. Nobody stocks them. They order and install. I called the rep for my area and he told me as much. He said that he doesn't know of anyone that orders these speakers to install them on their own. Well, I did. I like them a lot, but I have more work to do to get them dialed in. First time I purchased speakers sight unseen. Glad I did though. They sound VERY good.
