Compromised Beryllium tweeter?

I'm hoping to get some opinions as to whether is Beryllium tweeter is now compromised? I have an opportunity to purchase a pair of Focal Electra 1028be's at a very good price but I noticed a slight flaw with one of the tweeters. Any opinions on the matter?...flaw is at 5 o'clock in the attached image.

NO!

Especially if there is any flaking, Beryllium is toxic, first, and a nick in a paper woofer is one thing, but a crease the size of some of the tweeters wavelengths is another.

You could contact Focal and tell them the situation and ask what the replacement cost would be. Focal may ask to send the whole speaker in for quality control, but also to ensure proper disposal of the beryllium. I'd expect to pay for shipping one way. May be worthwhile at that price!

Definitely discontinue use and contact focal and, as a safety issue, I suspect they'll take it from there. Those are fairly expensive tweeters but assuming you got good deal on used you're probably still well ahead of the game and they really are fantastic sounding!
I suspect the first thing they'll do is ask you to put a piece of tape, masking tape or something on it to contain any particles/dust from getting airborne.
I would also be a bit suspicious that they seller knew what he was selling you.

I don't believe bags came with my Pro Audio studio monitors. There's one more difference between the consumer and Pro Audio Market

While beryllium is toxic, I doubt a small nick in a tweeter poses a serious hazard. I wouldn't worry about that.

The problem of that flaw is it may degrade the ability of the diaphragm to move in a pistonic manner at high frequencies. You can measure the response to see if that is a problem, if you have a mic. Measure both speakers and see how their response differs for the exact same conditions.

Or, if you don't want to make that big of a deal out of it and do not have a mic, just play some sounds from each speaker individually. If that damaged tweeter does not sound like the intact tweeter, then have it replaced. If you can't tell the difference between either speaker no matter what you play, than it probably isn't worth worrying about.

I paid big bucks for mine though, and they were made in France.:D Didn't you have their active version, forgot the number but I seem to remember you really take them. I recall the model number has a "6" in it, right? Is the Pro Audio studio monitors it, I mean no 6 in it?
