Hi, I have a THX certified subwoofer, I leave the volume behind it at the reference level (slightly below the middle of the maximum volume) when turning the water on the receiver onkyo tx nr757 it turns the sub volume on + 5db should increase the volume on the subwoofer (Above the reference volume) and lower the volume in db on the receiver or should I leave as the acueq arrow on + 5db ??

I would just set the subwoofer at whatever level you like. Who knows what Onkyo's target curve is. And THX certification is nice, but it belongs in the context of a larger THX system, so I wouldn't worry about THX specs too much unless the system as a whole can scale to that level. That would require ditching the Onkyo for starters.

Even my receiver and all my speakers being certified THX should not I worry about the reference volume on the subwoofer ??

What sub? +5dbs seems hot with an auto eq, but as Shady said, you can adjust it to your liking. A lot of members run their subs hot.

The speakers are a set of Onkyo model SKS-HT993THX and my receiver is Onkyo TX NR757
