My old Velodyne servo F-1500 subwoofer has been part of my home theater system for about 15 years now. One of my children tore the cone beyond repair in this sub. Is there a source for a replacement driver with accelerometer attached to get me back up and running.

My theater system:

Front: Paradigm 11se mkII
Center: Gilco custom
Surround: Magneplanar electrostatics
Subs: Velodyne Servo f-1500
JL audio Fathom with the 13.5inch W7 driver
Audio Control line driver and electronic crossover
Amplifiers: Adcom 3 channel for fronts and center 200watt each channel
Adcom 555 2 channel amp surrounds
Vizio tru led 55inch tv
Onkyo Integra receiver for signal processing
Onkyo Blu-Ray
Custom built multimedia PC with all the goodies

Velodyne will have to supply it. If they don't have a driver or can't rebuild yours, then it is a total loss.

A used F-1500 sold for $330.00 on that auction site.. Why can't you just replace the woffer with one that has the size and specs?

In addition to a woofer needing the same T/Specs, those woofers are servo woofers that have an accelerometer.

Because no one knows what the specs are. I'm sure Velodyne didn't publish the full T&S parameters for the driver.

Look up "servo subwoofer." Basically the driver provides feedback to the amp which compensates for its movement. Rythmik Audio produces a pretty comprehensive line of servo amp/driver combos as well as finished subs. They're pretty rad.

That's a good point. I wonder if one of the Rythmik Audio drivers would be a good replacement for the Velodyne? The T/S alignments won't be exact, but you have a good idea here.

No. Assuming they even use the same feedback technology, which they probably don't, the servo feedback system has to be tuned precisely to the driver. It's a bit like designing a crossover - drop a different driver into a loudspeaker will result in a wildly different response.

I have a similar F1200 with a dead driver and Velodyne said those drivers are no longer available, so unfortunately there is very little chance you will find a suitable driver to replace it unless they have some of the 15s.

Velodyne F1500R subwoofer

Hi, If you were not able to repair your F1500R I would be interested in purchasing the amp panel from you. My F1500 R quit working and the woofer is still in great shape.
Please let me know.
Thanks, Bob

Velodyne F-1500 for parts, any interest!

I have a Velodyne F-1500-B that a customer gave me that is non-working that I haven't tested so I am not sure what's wrong. I am willing to part it out for the driver, etc if any interest. The driver looks like new from the outside, I can tell someone pulled the amp and put it back, box is beat up and not repairable unless a lot of work was put into it.

I would be very interested in purchasing a driver if you still have it! Also, just to bump this forum, for those of us who have one of these cabinets but no way to get a driver in there... would it be at all worth removing the amp panel and putting in a new amp system/driver? It is a decently little cabinet and I love its aesthetic
