Adding third subwoofer to HT

I currently have 2 AV123 MFW15's. I don't think there has been a more controversial sub on the market, ever. Thankfully I purchased Mark Seaton's ICE amplifiers which is the cure all from the man who designed the original MFW and is the savior who has given buyers an option to bring theirs back from the dead and if wanted, can be upgraded into very seriously high performing subwoofers.

I haven't upgraded the drivers so they are both stock drivers with Seaton ICE amplifiers and they shake the hell out of my HT. So of course I want to add more.

I acquired 2 more MFW's last year, one had a different driver and a black enclosure and the other was an early prototype that I use in my basement 2.1 system.

I want to take the good one with a NOS driver and a V2 amplifier I have that amazingly works and integrate it into the back side of my HT (going to get a Seaton amp this Spring)..

After writing this essay I'm finally at my point. My Marantz SR7009 supports 2, how do I run Audyssey with a third split off of my 2nd MFW, just run it and see how it goes?

Depends on placement I guess. If you have two in the front symmetrically, treat them as one, and the third as the second sub. See what happens?

I don't know why I didn't think of that, seriously excellent idea.

Yep I'd group two of the same distance together and treat the other as the second sub as far as using SubEQ/XT32. Another alternative is to run them all off one pre-out through a minidsp unit for delay/level and let Audyssey just handle overall eq...

I'm curious how you make out. I spent the better part of an afternoon moving one of my subs around into every corner, nook and cranny. Turned out to be kind of a wasted effort due to a crappy wireless transmitter/receiver I was using. Probably didn't help much not having the right equipment for the job either... I took the wireless adapter back and my subs are still right up front. all 170 lbs of them...

The wife and I are watching a movie she wanted to see so I have to wait until tomorrow after work. Plus, I have to hoof that 120lb beast up the stairs by myself which will not be fun.

Oh man, I'd have to recruit my son for help with that.

I have no kids so ready "help". :)

120lbs used to be easy, now its something I pay for the next few days but can still do it! I have 4 of these damn heavy weights, when I got the last 2 I brought them to the basement in one night, that sucked big time.

Always nice to have your own handtruck for moments like these....

Agreed, the staircase doesn't lend itself to one very well, it winds around and the wife has 30 big cases of water in that area. I could move it making room to use a handtruck but then I've done the heavy lifting then some.

I've done that rodeo before....

On my diy subs I take the drivers out when moving from workshop into the house, helps a bit, easier to manage by being able to use the interior to help maneuver thru tighter spaces, too. 30 cases of water?

And not have to worry about damaging the woofer. Good tip. If I ever have to haul them up a set of stairs, I'll be removing woofers.

Just be careful tipping the driver out in the first place then use the zip tie trick to lower the driver back in the box and line up the screw holes up easily.

The box has no driver or amp in it yet, thank God.
