Best speaker for college

Hi all, I am new here and was just looking for some advice on what speaker to buy. After doing a bit of research, I found these two speakers linked below and I was wondering which would be best for college parties/pregames. The quality does not have to be fantastic, but still decent sounding - it would also have to be on the loud side for a room around 1000 sq ft, and also durable. Looking for a speaker preferably under 200 that has lots of base without a sub - would either of these two be the best option, or something else?

Thanks!

So your looking for a single powered speaker? I'd look at Behringer PA speakers for a good value. None of the PA speakers will play low, but will play loud say from 40hz on up.

I've heard Behringer is not that good of a brand, but I am not sure - any recommendations on a specific speaker that does not need an amp or anything - also having an aux input is needed.

Not sure why you interested in a single speakers - most music is stereo - ie - you need two speakers at minimum, unless it's small and portable speaker or an alarm clock
Here's something for your budget:

Behringer is not that good of a brand?....yet unknown "LyxPro" and "Alto Professional" are? (love that for $100 more you get "LED" lights, such a sure sign of high audio reputation LOL)....

They're called active speakers (i.e. with on-board amplification). What's your source? Stereo or mono?

I had stated a good value. In pa speakers to get to quality sound, your looking at $800 for a passive speaker. Of the two brands you listed, I wouldnt spend $1 on either, and would rather deal with Behringers CS any day of the week. They make thousands of products of which some are really hand some that are OK.
