Folks, going through some of my stuff I came across this:

This is a 30 Hz F-Mod High Pass filter 12 db/Octave that I bought back in like 2004 or so. Can't believe I have had this all of these years. Anyways, if ANYONE could really use this and is willing to send me their shipping address, then I would be more than happy to send it. Have no use for it whatsoever. Not even really sure why I bought it to begin with........LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Phil

PS If you want it shoot me a PM with your mailing address. Thanks!

No offense, but I wanted to double check you on the 30Hz specification because the card says there are 24 options ranging from 50Hz to 15kHz. Is 30Hz hand written on the package? Might it be a sloppy 5 instead of a 3?

Yes, but in the upper left hand corner it clearly says 30 Hz HP. Basically, this is a subsonic filter. It seems like I had (2) of them for some reason or another. However, I only have this one. Like I said, not really sure why I even bought them. No telling with me.......LOL!!!!!!

Good! I couldn't make that out on the earlier photos!
I guess they added the 30Hz version, but did not change the packing to include it.

Could very well be. I figured there might be a DIY person out there that could use the F-mod. It is doing me no good just merely collecting dust. If you know anyone that could use it, then please let me know.

My old Sansui AU-717 has a subsonic filter (I didn't label it, Fuzz). Especially when playing records, I could see the woofers of my AR 3a's moving around, but not making sound. When I flipped on the subsonic filter, the amp and my woofers no longer wasted energy on that.
I'm not sure where else one of these might be useful.

Two thing:
1) I pay lots of money to get bass below 30Hz (the Sansui was labeled as a 16Hz subsonic filter)
2) If I was doing it, I would want a pair for stereo and I'm not sure you can find those anymore.

But thanks for the kind and thoughtful offer!

Not too sure if they are still available. Will look into it and get back with you. Will also look through some of where I have stuff like this and see if I have another. It seems like I did buy a set. But, who really knows as that has been at least 10-12 years ago. Will get back to you Kurt.

No, I'm not interested!
I'm saying that the roll off at 30 Hz is a little high. For a music system, I would like a filter with a steep roll-off at 16Hz (or 20) like my Sansui had. That was ideal for turntable rumble, but I've never seen the woofers moving like that without sound other than using a turntable, so I have no use for them. I was just commenting for the sake of others wondering where or how they might be useful.

I think the whole point of these is for when your receiver doesn't have a built in crossover, so in that case 30Hz would be ok since you'd be running a sub up to at least that high with a low pass as well. Biggest problem is that these are sold in pairs. You can still easily get them, but no singles AFAIK. Still, could be useful to someone. Great offer to for someone who may have lost one or something.

Hey maybe Phil will find the other one :D

One thing such a filter might be useful for is mixing ported subwoofers with different tuning points. Below the subwoofer's tuning, the port output is out of phase with the woofer, so if you are mixing subwoofers that have different tuning points, you may have a phase fight below the tuning point of the highest tuned subwoofer. A high pass filter on the highest tuned sub can make sure any output below the tuning point is rendered ineffectual. This might be a good idea if you are running one of the subs just to shore up the mid bass.

Shady that may be why I got it. Just really don't remember. But, this sounds closer to what I have read so far. Will see if I have another one tomorrow and get back to everyone. Seems like I did order two of them.

Folks, have looked and looked for the other F-Mod to no avail. Not sure what happened to the other one, unless for some odd reason I only ordered one. But, if anyone is interested in the single F-Mod please let me know. Thanks!

Phil
