Hi all.

Like many on this forum I am getting a bad case of upgrade fever. I truly enjoy my system. I just want more!

My current system
Svs prime book self
Svs prime center
Polk in-ceiling surrounds
2x rythmik lv12r
Tx-nr636.

I have roughly a grand to use on an upgrade. I have been considering one of the following:

1.Svs ultra bookshelfs
2.Single fvx15 (would sale 1 of the lvr12 and keep the other to preserve duals)
3.Denon 4200 or other receiver with sub eq
4.Sound treatments
5.Projector and screen ( I understand this my cost a little more than a grand)
6.Save my money for later. (I will be moving from my current home, but that is roughly 5-7 years from now. The new home is where I will build my dream system)

Some other info.
Room is roughly 4500-5500cuft
Main listening position is 11' from front speakers and seats against wall.
I listen to music 2-3 times per week. One of those times at high volume.
Usually watch 2-4 movies per month.

Some things I can't do.
Can't change surround speakers
Can't/no good reason to add 7.2 due to room layout
Can't fit svs ultra center in entertainment center

Goals for two channel:
I love loud/fill the room with pressure bass.
More head room on speakers and subs. I am running the subs roughly to their max. The speakers may have slightly more head room but my receiver runs out of power. At least that's my assumption.

Goals for movies.
A 120" project would be awesome.
For movies the volume/lfe volume are reaching satisfactory levels for me.
Concerned about projector and screen aesthetics

I will be awaiting everyone's opinion.

Thanks

If you want to pressurize that room, then the subs would be the logical upgrade. Sell both of the Rythmik subs and come up with a true budget. Dual vtf15s from HSU (or vtf3s) , a single jtr captivator 1400, a single Rythmik fv15hp, or the diy route for some serious horsepower for the price.

Or, for the time being just take a couple Tylenols for that fever. ;) :D

Dual fvx 15 would be awesome.

Should I expect the ultras to be any louder? Or just clearer and more detailed with same output

My experience with XT32 with SUB EQ HT is that it definitely helped a good bit with the subs on EQ in my room. Have you measured your subs at the listening position?

Use speaker sensitivity ratings to estimate which should be louder or not.

If you want louder and you mentioned subs, I'm not sure your thoughts of upgrading the mains will achieve anything other than a different sound signature. If you went to high power high sensitivity speakers, then yes you can change that. But subs are your issue in that room.

I like the idea of trying some sub eq, maybe a minidsp and a usb measurement mic/REW (assuming you have a convenient pc to use) so you can "see" what you've got and where you need to improve. Maybe simply boosting the sub output for now sounds good, too. Maybe pull that seat away from the wall, too.
