was curious about weather or not is there a avr that has a setup for stereo to play 4 speakers
Diesel,
I think you need to take a breath and slow down. It sounds like you believe you can convince the boss to spend some money, and you're in some kind of euphoric whirlwind trying to figure out how to spend it.
Surround speakers are a good thing, but don't believe they will reveal some kind of divine revelation. In TV/movies, they play stuff that happens
off the screen. Think about that for a minute. TV/movies are a visual medium. You see what is happening. There is little that happens off screen because it's pretty useless to the medium.
For music, "4-channel stereo" will indeed fill up the room. It's useful when you have a room full of people because the volume is not too loud at one end of the room, and too soft at the other end. But think about sitting by yourself and listening to music.
With 2-channel, you can picture a stage in front of you and think, "The singer is on the right, or the guitar player is on the right, or the violins are on the left, etc". With 4-channel, the guitar is in front of you on the right and behind you on the right. "Filling up the room" means you can't localize specific sounds... just somewhere on the left or somewhere on the right.
Filling up the room can be kind of cool once in a while just playing around. But I suppose it's the rare duck that actually prefers it in the long run. But now you've blown your financial wad on great speakers that really, really make that creaking door sound good.
If you have the money, great surrounds can be had. Some people here use very expensive surrounds. I'm sort of half way in that group. I have 4x towers at $1k each for side and rear surrounds. Do they sound great? You bet!!! Do I use them for music? Very, very rarely. If I was starting from scratch today, would I buy them again? Nope.
