Crossing cable from speaker to AVR

How can I tell if I have crossed the right out cable from a speaker to left in port of AVR and the left out cable from that same speaker to the right in port of the AVR?

Will there be distortion, no sound or no audible difference?

Seriously, I have no life.

The sound image will be inverted. Just unplug a right input and leave the left connected. If the sound comes out of the right speaker, then you have inverted the speaker wires. If that is the case to get left form left and right from right, then you need to invert the speaker connections.
