Hi Guys, I spent the last year in Vietnam working with local coiled bamboo craftsmen to create a Bluetooth speaker from this amazing handicraft, I’m really happy with the end result but wanted some feedback from you guys before I launch it. Thanks in advance, Bruno.

I'd be afraid someone would bump it and it'd roll off the desk.

Hi @herbu the base of the speaker is flat and its weighs about 3kg so it should be bump proof :)

I think it looks pretty cool. How does it sound?

Is this a single speaker only? Or can you do a true Left/Right Stereo pair?

Any measurements? What drivers did you use?

Looks like a Norh. Build quality looks quite good. I think it is a great idea, but depends on price point. I'd use something other than a mylar tweeter too.

The price point is going to start at €195.
Each Hazang speaker is entirely hand made in Vietnam and takes several weeks to create, from plant to product. The whole process requires very few tools, just the careful eye, and attention of its skilled creator.

There's 2 different sizes of speaker the big ones specs are as follows:
- 2 way speaker
- 5" medium bass driver : 4 Ohm
- 0.5" tweeter: 8 Ohm
- frequency responce 50 - 20,000 Hz +/- 3 dB
- 28cm diameter hand made coiled bamboo shell

The smaller speaker specs:
- 3" full range driver : 8 Ohm
- bass reflex design
- frequency responce 60 - 17,000 Hz +/- 3 dB
- 21cm diameter hand made coiled bamboo shell

They have Bluetooth and Aux connection, both sizes will also be sold as passive speakers for those of you with your own amp :) Bluetooth ones will be sold on their own, the passives in pairs.

How did you calculate the baffle step compensation for a round enclosure like that?

@TLS Guy thanks for your question. I didn't quite understand what you're asking. If its how did we come to that price point, then, each speaker enclosure takes a number of weeks to build by hand in a rural village in Vietnam. This means that each speaker is entirely unique and is helping to support their rural economy.

@Steve81 Thank you for clearing that up, @TLS Guy I will get our engineer to answer your question when he comes in tomorrow morning, apologies for the misunderstanding!

This time it's not about the money!

How did you connect a 4 ohm woofer to an 8 ohm tweeter?

I am not sure if they care about that kind of speaker engineering.
Looks most likely for a desk to speaker, not hi fi speaker.
But, we'll see what their engineer has to say if he understand any of that.

The goal of any speaker is to sound good and balanced, right?
