got it two days ago and have been working my way through it. I like the tiles but so far I've stumbled acros two changes I really don't like.

1) All my preexisting Excel documents come up in "protected" mode and I can't get rid of this. I've been copying and pasting them into new documents as needed. They work fine.

2) In Edge, maintaining "favorites" has changed in that one cannot move a link (or folder) up a level. I noticed this when I created a new folder (which winds up a the bottom) to a higher position. I must have hovered another folder too long and it dropped it in that folder.

Now, in IE10 I could simply click and drag it up and out of that folder up the tree. Edge does not (obviously) allow moving out of the current folder.

so, the jury is still out but so far I'm not pleased with these new features and am trying to find workaround for these.

I wonder what other surprises Cortina has for me.

Why not use Firefox or Chrome Browsers?

Fair enough, FWIW I only use IE or Edge if it is a necessity. Otherwise I tend to choose Chrome or FF due to personal preference.

I like it so far, but the Edge browser not so much.

IE11 should be on your win 10 system as well. Just type Explorer.exe into the search bar and pin it to your taskbar.

Yeah, for my home computers, I have gone to Win10 across the board, not looked back, and not been disappointed. Granted, I'm not a power user.

Ironically, as I was reading this post, the Windows 10 window popped up stating my computer would automatically install Windows 10 on my work laptop in 15 minutes and started counting down. INSTANT PANIC!!! I never upgraded because my Quickbooks won't work with Win 10. Plus, I hate Win 8 and use the classic shell profile to make it work so why would I want to use Win10 and risk losing access to my business records, my CAD system, etc. Ugh!!

I just don't hear good things about it. Or enough to make me want to switch. Win 8 sucked or rather made sense on a tablet. I don't use a tablet. It doesn't make sense to me on a desktop. Maybe I'm getting old...

Nope, Win8 sucks!

WinXP was great! Win7 was pretty good, and I've been really happy with Win10 so far........

Win8, Win ME, Win Vista, just not worth it.

I just spent 2 weeks testing all of my business applications for my division on Win10. Basically, all of them worked. A few required patches, but that's it. To be honest, some of them actually seem to work better in W10.

I'll stick with Windows 98 thank you very much...

It's the jinkiest...

Hallelujah! I figured out how to set IE 11 as my browser. Once I found it on Google, it was a snap.

Thank God for Google. I love their taskbar and missed it greatly. It's got a spell checker as well as a search.

Actually, I was very happy with XP. ;)

I've noticed the new IE is really fast. Unfortunately it doesn't work well with every site.

IE won't be supported much longer. You should really consider moving on. It's a security nightmare waiting to happen. Chrome is a much safer choice.

I gave up on Windows years ago. Mac is it for me. OSX El Capitan and Safari is a perfect combination. I use Windows 10 on my gaming rig but that is all I use it for. Not looking back. This is from a guy that, five years ago, would never have touched a Mac.

I gave up on Windows for my personal machines (no way around it at work) a few months ago and have been happily running Linux Mint. There are pros and cons. There is a small learning curve, and two or three Windows programs I love don't have decent Linux equivalents. But, it's free, very stable, secure, doesn't nag you and try to force updates and changes, and you can run Windows programs if you really need to.

Some Linux versions are very light and great for old machines. And you can set up dual boot on one machine, so you can go back to Windows if and when you really need to.
