Polk Monitor 40 Series II input?

These speakers seem to be an absolute steal. Is there something I'm missing? I'm looking to run them as the mains for my 7.2 system used for music and movies. I have a pretty decent ear and realize these won't be a top notch speaker. But to me it seems like they're comparable to other bookshelves offered by polk...but with 2 woofers....right? To me they seem somewhere in between a floor-standing speaker and a bookshelf. Am I missing something with these?

polk has been around for quite some time. That being said, it shows they manufacture a solid product.

Beyond that, which is good, it all boils down to personal preference. If they sound goo to YOU and you feel the price is right, then go for it. It doesn't matter what others think.

This is a standard MTM design and they offered it in the first series as well, basically a center on its side. Series 1 were terrible, but haven't heard these. I'd still opt for the Pioneer BS22LR as my default answer in that price range.

I agree the AA monitors is a much better buy. Here is another option that is much better than the Polks:

When on sale these are also very good. Really like them. Much better than the Polk Monitor 40's. Much smoother and more detail! Good luck in your decision.

Cheers,

Phil

So I went ahead and purchased the Pioneer BS22's and I can't wait for them to arrive. I'm currently planning to run them as my mains in a 5.2 setup with a Onkyo TX-SR608 reciever, Polk CS10 center, and Jamo Sub250 (and some stupid generic satelites). Is this setup going to be good enough for now? My room is probably 15x30, carpeted, low ceiling. Also, I've never really broken in new speakers before. Can I get some advice on that, and any other tips that could improve my setup?

Just play some music and listen and they'll be fine. I had the 22s for about a year before I sold them and moved up to the 52s (got a deal for less than the 22s lol) and C22, but I always enjoyed the 22s. They aren't so pretty, but to me they sounded very good for the price IMO and they're easy to get.
