Liked Gator. Prefer wild duck over farm duck. Have had deer, bear, wild goose, squirrel (in a stew, it was pissing me off...yelled at me all 3 hours I was sitting in the deer stand so it became dinner).

Rocky Mountain Oysters...been there on accident. Nope, that wasn't fried fish!

I can't stand fried chicken gizzards.

I ate several things while I was in China for work. Not a fan of fried silk worms. The steamed snails were excellent. The purple seafood thingy in the soup...still have no idea what the hell it was but I ate it. Ate a few others I couldn't identify.
Oh yeah, one of my favorites....

An co-worker of Asian ethnicity got married a few years ago. The lotus salad at the reception had some really good crunchy pieces in it, I had no idea what it was but it was good! Then when I asked my friend, he said "that's pig ears"....................dang, I didn't know how much I liked pig ears!

Have had duck and squirrel. Will have to pass on the oysters. That is the good thing about Chinese-eat things that are crunchy w/o even knowing what it really is.....LOL!!!! Sure have had my share of that.

I have a packet of something that was in the airplane lunch from the ride from Korea to China. It listed the ingredients on the back. After a bit, it literally stated ", etc." and ended. I didn't eat it. I think I still have it at home.

For me, it was a work trip and I only spent 2 days in China. Most of it was at the supplier's factory or at the local government building. You haven't lived until you are singing Elvis songs Karaoke with drunk Chinese government officials. It's quite a story... It was an industrial city on the coast a good 15 years ago. I was the only westerner there so when I walked down the street, windows would fill up with Chinese people all staring at me and chattering away. A lot has changed in the last 15 years in China.

I spent about 4 days of that trip in South Korea and really enjoyed that. If you get the chance to go I would recommend it. I am open minded about food so I ate well and never went hungry. Although, my first meal there, the Koreans took me to Kentucky Fried Chicken. I couldn't read the menu and only 2 spoke English and not the cashier. I ended up just pointing to a picture and I got a meal.

Very interesting. Even though you were only in China for (2)-days, I bet it was something to see. Yes, if I ever get the chance I will surely go. Just find Asian culture fascinating. Elvis eh? YOU know when I was a kid back in the early 70's I got to go see Elvis. Will never forget it. That was also my very first concert. Thanks for the info!

Cheers,

Phil
