Ready to pull the trigger

I want to thank all the members who responded to my post. I wish I could say I have made my decision but unfortunately, I have only been able to narrow down my options. It's between the Rythmik FV15HP and the HSU VTF15H MK2. It seems as though Rythmik has the performance edge. But given the fact that I would have to spend an extra $600 for two subs I am not convinced its worth it. I know I am nick picking but it's a relatively big investment and I want to feel as though I made the right decision. I think I need a few more days to think about it. Thanks again.

The best advice I could offer you is this:
Trust third independent party measurements - and compare them apples to apples here:
http://www.data-bass.com/home
Josh has extensively measured both (well vtf15h mk1 - just add +3db for mk2 and you'll get near on the money)
You'll notice that once you adjust the +3db (due to improvements in driver and amp) - the performance is nearly identical and in few areas mk1 beats FV15hp

The FV15HP does have an advantage in extension. Above 18 Hz however, it looks on par with the VTF15h mk2. The thing is, above 20 Hz, the VTF3 mk5 is on par with these subs as well. With respect to performance, three VTF3 mk5s will have a large advantage over dual FV15HPs or VTF15h mk2s, except below 17 Hz or so.

All very good points. Another consideration is how often will I be exposed to material in the 18hz and below range?

Depends how often you listen to current hip-hop or watch action movies with deep rumbling bass tracks.

Hip hop very seldom has bass that deep. Usually it does not go below 40 Hz. Some modern action movies do have some content that goes below 18 Hz. The trick is having enough SPL to hear it.

Perhaps I've misclassified the material. I was on Tidal today and clicked on Drake "Live From The Gutter". I suppose it's rap, and it had tracks well below 25hz.

Why didn't you get a second FV15HP since if their performance about is equal, you could have saved $800 ?
I was curious. I saw the PB13U highly touted as the Daddy-O, I had the money, so I got it.

It was not because of any problem or dissatisfaction with the FV15HP. Was it worth it? To my ears, no. A second sub was worth it, but I can't say the SVS is $800 better than the Rythmik.

But, now I know. If I had 2 FV15HPs, I would still be wondering if the SVS or something else was better. It's the same thing as an external amp. Does one make a difference? Not to my ears, but it answers my curiosity.

I suggest you're in that spot now. Most likely, you won't hear a difference between your final choices. Are you the kind of guy who can make a decision and be satisfied? Or will you always wonder if "the other" is better?

If you'll wonder, get one of each. You can play with them and decide for yourself over the years if you think one is better. In the meantime, since their difference is a very small percentage of their total performance, you can mix them and be fine.

It really shouldn't be that difficult, Hsu should be the easy choice, based upon your own reasoning. Considering all other factors be equal or extremely close to equal, a $600 difference in the price should make them a slam dunk.
