Have issues with my Parasound P5 preamp volume again. Parasound is great and will take care of me. Not here to bash them. I just want to know if there are any other preamps with sub control out there? I know Emotiva has the XSP-1... Any others? Help?
This is for 2.1 audio only. No AVR pre's.

As I said, do not get stuck on 2.1 preamps. The market for these is small. It is a very simple matter to add bass management and drive a sub from any 2.0 preamp. Just ask afterlife, I talked him through it easily.

For two channel a good vintage preamp will be fine. Don't restrict your choices by going for 2.1.

To get 2.1 from 2.0 you just need an electronic cross over like the Behringer.

In fact it is possible to make the bass management superior and more flexible than ANY built in 2.1 preamp. One of the reasons there are not many of what you are looking for is because there are better solutions.

If you buy a Quad 44 or Quad 34 you will have superb performance, especially from vinyl. Nothing is as versatile as the Quad 44 for vinyl, with the 34 close behind.

I use a Quad 34 downstairs with a vintage Crown electronic crossover for the bass management.

I told you this before in your last similar post, but as usual you did not listen.

It seems pretty much impossible to stop you making this hobby a senseless money pit.

Outlaw RR2150--remove the pre-out to amp jumpers and use it as a pre amp only.

I also think the XSP-1 is gonna be very tough to beat in that category.

Ha Ha TLS Guy. You know me pretty well.:D I guess I did ask this before, just didn't remember it. This was a spur of the moment question since I just found out I have to send the Parasound back. I will take all of your suggestion and make a good decision with the info.

For a 2.0 DAC/Preamp have a look at the Oppo HA-1. It is a fantastic DAC, digital inputs, and fully balanced. It measures like a Preamp using headphone outs. I'd like to see a review as a preamp.

Just updating this post. Parasound has gone above and beyond again. They have stepped up and helped out again with the volume issue. Just want to make it public that Parasound has exceptional customer service!

Are they sending you a brand new P5? That would be above and beyond. :D

They gave me three choices. And I took the best option. Most companies would not even give you two:D.
And remember they stepped up and offered me something last time to do some testing on my unit. There are only a few companies that I have dealt with that are this good. Ascend Acoustics is one along with Parasound. Makes you a customer for life.

So, what were the choices and what did you choose?

Repair, replace with new or credit towards a different item.... This wouldn't happen with many companies out ther that I know of.

Nice. That new integrated is tempting. I wonder if they will repair out of warranty stuff. My zDac on/off button does not stay in sometimes and I will have to push it in a few times before it sticks.

I would assume at this point you took the credit. I know that is what I would have done!

Credit towards another Parasound. But what would he get from Parasound to replace P5 that won't cost a lot more? :)
Personally, I would have taken the credit. If Parasound didn't have what I wanted, then I would have taken the item that I could sell the quickest! Cut my losses and move along!

I took credit towards another preamp. I need it and have zero worries about it. It's hard to find exceptional CS these days and when you do I will support them always. Yes I had a Volume issues but it was fixed ASAP and then some. I have time with other companies in this business and while some are good, some are terrible, Parasound is exceptional.

I would go with the P7, especially if they offered you discounts.

Looks like Parasound did not pay their hosting fees. Can anyone see their website?

Does the P7 have bass management like the P5?

Yes the P7 has bass management like the P5. But it's fixed at 50,80hz or full. You can not fine tune it. I have always set mine at 80 or full anyways when it called for it.

Ha ha. Strange. It was up earlier.
