I was sitting on my couch listening to some music and all of the sudden my earphones stopped working.
no sound out of the left earbud mine always seem to break there. Glad i have my backup. That means tomorrow driving across the city while the weather is terrible just to get where i got them get my money back and try to find a new pair. Just to make it clear i am very careful with my gear but when it comes to earphones no matter how much i spend the break sooner or later the pair that broke today isn't even 16 months old the one before that after 2.5 years same story. Can somebody explain to me why its always the left earbud that fails? i would really like to know.

you should get you ears checked, maybe your left ear draws more amps.. I know it is very scientific, but it is caused by how you eat popcorn...

But seriously, most likely just the headphones you are buying I have had a pair of kickers that I use all the time, had them for a while and they are still perfect, and SUPER CHEAP, come to think of it, I don't think I ever broke a set of headphones, BUT then again I dont eat popcorn, it gets stuck in my teeth and messes up my tv reception..

LOL I don't eat popcorn in fact i hate it! but seriously i use my headphones while working on a computer #deskjob i do nothing crazy with them. I buy around the 90-100 dollar range but then again i don't buy that beats trash. Its always the internals that don't hold up or the inline remote is bad to use. The headphone i broke were the JBL reflects i only got them because all others were beats or some brand i don't know. Well we see what i end up getting.

I bought my first pair of decent headphones used for $10 - Fostex T20RP (gen 1). Only thing I had to do to them is change earpads (I got compatible ones from Shures for $18 or for pair ) and they still works perfectly fine....
I like them so much I bought T50RP on clearance sale for $75 (but it was a long time ago and since then prices risen much)

also: these are what I use now and they are best phones I own :

them sound decent (far above anything I heard for under $135) and I bought 4 sets, the kids throw them off the loft to each other, my wife dropped them on the treadmill and got them stuck under it, and we havent had a failure yet, I take care of mine, lol so mine are still perfect looking, as does my oldest son, but my wife and youngest are brutal, my youngest balls his up and forces them into his foot ball helmet twice a day, lol... I am sure they will break some day, BUT as of now I am happy with them, I am also happy with the sound, which to me is important. I also have a couple sets of B&W and they p5's and 3's and I like them too, I feel the kickers have better mid and low and the bw's have a better uniform sound but not as nice of a low range... BUT that is where I would put the kickers, with them, so not too bad cosidering them are $300+. I have other sets that were much more money and I don't even use them, I grab the first set I am near and plug them in...

Good luck, if you dont like how the kickers look check out panasonic I had some good luck iwth a few older models of them too and they are short money..

So i finally got to pick up my new pair of IEM's it was quite the story first things first they took my defect JBL pair and gave me a replacement (which i wasn't going to do but they said policy changed so no money back just a new pair) so far so good but i needed a replacement pair just in case something again happens so i there for about 2+hrs looking around listening to over ears on ears i almost gave up they had nothing i was looking. On my way out i stopped again by the in ear headphones section and there i found 2 potential candidates one of them being a Denon IEM but i didn't pick that one because my gut feeling was telling me "you ain't gonna like the sound get the other pair" so i did and i must boy am i happy! Sound awesome! stays in the ear all the time with silicone tips!!! and light now guess which ones did i get?
Here is a tip people really like the on/over ear version or at least they talk a lot about those.

The choice between over the ear and in-ear is a personal preference, not unlike boxers or briefs.

I just grabbed a set of the JBL Synchros E40BT. Bluetooth is nice so that I can wear them without worrying about a cable. No cable = no cable to break!

Granted, these aren't in the same league as a $300 set.

True my thinking was if they only stay at my desk i may should get over ears but i must say i am super happy with my Sennheiser Momentum they were the least expensive part of my shopping today #noshit xD
