"GoldenEar claims the driver-to-room coupling is distributed more smoothly as the different driver locations couple to different room standing wave patterns, and work well with the room modes."

Nobody is going to call BS marketing talk on that statement? What an 80hrz signal is about 14ft? So how is separating the drivers by 15-16" going to address that?

Total non-sense and why I stay away from Sandy's speakers and GoldenEar. May sound good but the BS marketing talk drives me nuts.
Not good for reputation with audio enthusiasts (minority of the market), but great for making money with the mass market.

Regarding the Super Sub XXL, it is normally discouraged to place passive radiators in a down-firing orientation. Per AE Speakers passive radiator FAQ: "The PR should never be down-firing, the high Mms will cause the diaphragm to be displaced downward immediately. The spiders will eventually be stretched permanently by this treatment, and the unit will need to be rebuilt."

I wonder how Golden Ear has addressed this issue?

Hmm thanks for this info. I will inquire with them.

Hey Gene,

Do you by chance have any additional info on those RBH closed back beryllium headphones? Model number, release date, etc?

I was thinking of getting a pair of Sennheiser HD600s, but it sounds like I should hold off for the RBHs.

p.s.

Just wanted to let you guys know that currently Youtube is putting Bose adds pretty much exclusively in front of all of your videos. It seems other manufacturers are missing out.

I agree GE's marketing tends to work overtime, at the end of the day if it sounds good, it sounds good. If it measures well, it measures well, the marketing is just that, I let my ears decide if I bring it home.

My T1s measure well, sounds good to me are at a price point I can afford. I absolutely enjoy the HVFR Tweeter, the bass is tight, powerful and dynamic, and even with the marketing fluf, they sound is excellent IMO. I have heard the subwoofer, and I was impressed.

That sound pretty, have no idea how they can prove that claim with measurements, but doesn't mean squat if the subwoofers don't sound good. To me they sound good.

I have a pair of HD600s. Nice headphones but NO match for the RBH's. They should start shipping in a month or two I believe. I recommend calling RBH and asking since I may have let the cat out of the bag a bit prematurely. Just tell them it's my fault ;)

Bose ads? It must be Google Adsense which I have little control of sadly.

Thanks for the info, Gene.

Actually it was your review (complete with frequency response) of the HD600s that pushed me in their direction.

The knowledge that the RBHs are shipping soon is good enough ;) I assume you guys will be doing a proper review of them, and I intended to read up on them a bit rather than jumping into a purchase anyway. Hopefully they don't get buried too deep under the other things slated for review from this event.

I actually figured that Adesense worked a bit better with the advertiser at the very least for targeting viewers on Youtube. I guess it is no wonder manufacturers are sponsoring channels and paying for 'baked in' ads into content these days.

Don't get me wrong the HD600s are great units. It's just the RBH's are so incredible and I can't believe the price they will be selling for initially. I recommend holding out if you can. Yes we will be reviewing them.

Oh absolutely! To be honest from what you had said, $800 would be at the point of 'too good to be true". I definitely am waiting for the other shoe to drop. Tech specs, build quality, all of that is worth waiting to hear about.

RBH put up product pages on their new headphones but the info is pretty sparse. At least you can take a look at the images for now.

Thanks!

Those pages must have JUST came up, since I did a Google search for any info on these earlier today

32Ohm impedance too! I would be using headphones primarily on my phone, so even better! (Heresy I know, but I use my phone on the go and speakers while at home)

I forgot I was going to post this to share with everyone:

I believe it is the song Gene was talking about in one of the demos. It is a pretty cool song and video. I saw it earlier this year, and ended up buying the album which wasn't too bad either.
