Finally coming together

135" Acoustically transparent screen, supposedly with a fine enough weave that it is 4K compatible. All I know is it looks f-word awesome with the JVC. The only negative is that is came a little battered with some scratches in the paint from the power cord being wrapped poorly. However, it is functionally perfect.

For reference, the sub stack is 40" high and the ceiling height is about 90.5". Been using Amazon Fire TV, but will try with BD tonight.

Whoa ... when your g/f leaves you I want to be your room mate.
Hmm, you were this || close when I told her I had bought a new screen :D

Nice what is the sitting distance? I call second dibs Alex.
9ft. I'm closing in on 1:1 viewing distance to screen width. With this screen I think I'm like ~.9:1 viewing to screen width.

I watched "I hate Christian Laetenner" on it today and I can honestly say that I don't know that I'll ever go to the movies/IMAX again.

I'm about the same distance 8-9 ft. Me either. :D;)

Picture looks a little weird becasue I had to brighten it. Didn't realize it was so dark down here. Finally got the desk setup for the second week of school. Vertical monitor usually has both e-mail programs on it. Still trying to find some time to get the other computer up and running again. Until then I'm running off of my macbook pro, which is a pain because I bring it to school with me everyday. Lots of wires to plug and unplug.

I'm guessing that I've asked this before, but have you ever considered a dock like a Thunderbolt or USB 3.0 dock? I don't know of any that can rock three monitors, but I haven't looked all that much. Then again...just get a Mini. :D

You have. I've researched one's that would fit my needs and the cost doesn't justify it for me because as soon as the other computer is fixed I'll be hooking everything back up to it. I think the last one I looked at was around $400 . This is more a temp solution, until I can figure out what the heck went wrong with the other computer.

I may have missed it, but what screen did you go with?

Looking awesome as always! I wish I went bigger with my screen, and I haven't even put mine up yet :(

Hi Sean, thanks. I replaced my 92" Cinetension2 screen with a 135" Saker tab tensioned screen with AcousticPro2 UHD screen material.

Having the acoustically transparent screen material is awesome and allows a lot more flexibility with speaker placement, especially because I still like to have the TV and the screen so I can switch between daytime and nighttime viewing.

Your build is certainly coming along. I can't wait to see what that looks like when you're finished. Hopefully I'll own someday and will able to do some nice in wall wiring and customization.

I looked at that same screen! If I go any bigger than what I have I will pretty much have to go with an acoustically transparent screen like you. I also really wanted to do a screen over a TV like you have, but since we have a window right there it wasn't really worth the effort.

It doesn't look like you NEED to own, your system looks great as is! I cant wait for mine to be finished, it will be awesome to watch movies down there :D

I had an AT screen way back when (my posts about it are somewhere in the recesses of the forum) and I had terrible moire. The PJ was too close, the seating was too close, and it was a mess. That's when I replaced it with the Cinetension2 screen. That screen has been great, but I really wanted to go back to AT now that the new UHD materials with the tighter weave have started coming out.

The Saker has definitely exceeded my expectations, and while I'm a little disappointed with Amazon and the quality of the shipping (it came a little scratched up) the screen itself has been excellent. It has a little more dropoff than a Seymour or one of those types of screens, but it also cost thousands less and after EQ it's barely noticeable and mostly not noticeable. The weave has lived up to expectations and I'm now sitting around the same distance as I was back at my last residence with zero moire and a screen that is twice as big. Definitely like being at the IMAX.

I also really wanted to do a screen over a TV like you have, but since we have a window right there it wasn't really worth the effort.
I have to say, with a double duty room I would either have to have a TV and PJ or a double PJ setup. I couldn't live without a way to do some daytime/ambient light viewing. The only downside is when I put up the screen, the TV looks about 10 inches wide :D

Thanks;) Although the OCD side of me hates all the wires lying around and the half a$$ed hanging job of the PJ and the screen, due to the need to be able to easily remove them when the time comes.

Yours is going to look great and I have no doubt it will get better. I've been following along and you've done a great job so far. Now hurry the heck up :p

Amazon Basics Large Portable BT Speaker arrived today. Super easy to use, setup within seconds of opening the box. Sounds better than I thought it would and right on par with other portable BT speaker's I've heard. So far pleasantly surprised by the performance. Right now I'm listening to it while it's connected to my computer and sitting around 12ft away and it doesn't sound half bad for what it is.
