Snowy noise coming from speakers with no inputs

I have a Marantz SR7007 that I would notice a hum or electrical noise problem coming from speakers. When I disconnected all the HDMI inputs and outputs I noticed that the noise went away. When I started to plug them back in I would receive a now fuzzy noise coming from speakers. When I plug back into the the Cab/Sat input, I will hear the electrical noise again. Im feeling as though its the HDMI jack on the receiver. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

The level of noise does not seem to increase unless I crank the receiver way way up. Obviously more noticeable with an amplifier connected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thats a good call...But even when no input is plugged in I'm still hearing a fuzzy noise coming through the speakers.

you're saying that even when the HDMI plugs are disconnected from the receiver you still get the noise.

Yes. Its just a fuzzy noise coming the speakers when nothing is plugged in. When you insert an hdmi cable to the cab/sat port you then also hear an electrical hum.

are there any other sources plugged into the receiver? does the noise disappear if there are no inputs plugged into the receiver? I don't mean connected but not on, but no interconnects connected to the receiver at all.

BTW, it's always a good thing to power down all gear when kerfutzing with inputs or outputs.

yeah there is nothing even connected to to the receiver other than the speaker wires. Now this is mostly a noise coming from tweeter and its not too noticeable but its there and I notice it and it irritates me!!! Its as almost if something is shorted across the jack side of the receiver. Maybe a little blown air across the inputs??? Try cleaning it out. IDK its driving me nuts. MARKW you replied to a thread I started 2 years ago about issues I was having with my amps. I thought it was the amps causing this noise I'm talking about now but I just got to messing with some thing the other day and realized it was HDMI input. When I disconnected the Cab/Sat HDMI cable the noise came back with no amps installed.

If you have to crank it up and get very close to the speaker, it's normal. Very few amps are totally silent. And, what does "something shorted across the jack side of the receiver sound like. Likewise, what does "blown air across the input" sound like. Do you have any idea how ridiculous these descriptions sound to people in this hobby.?

Well then, just replace the HDMI inputs. Problem solved!

If that doesn't do it, replace the receiver.

I guess I don't. Probably just going to replace receiver.

the problem is I don't know how to explain what I'm hearing. I should take an audio clip and upload it.

This is where I lost hope for this guy

WTF??? No amplifiers? If there are no amps, to what are the speakers connected? This kid makes no sense.

Agarwalro gave him great advice early on but he obviously didn't want to hear it.
