I would not pay $300 for a pair of speakers that sold for $150
in their time and for $120 when on sale.

They make better speakers today with better tweeter than the A40 had

If you want them, then buy them - but not for $300

Well some of the sites I did go to have them speakers going for 1,400 from 1995-1998 but don't know about todays market if they where $150 back them they would have sold a ton of them We put them up against some older B/w and they blew them away. these are VR40 not the a40

My bad - I am more awake now!:)

The VR would be better than the older A series - Boston made and
still does make some nice stuff.

However, I would start with an offer of around $200 and go from there.
The VR tweeters are nice - I have listened to a smaller VR speaker.

The VR30 - a different size model is on Ebay for $135 a pair - that is
why I would start with a lower offer for the VR40

Thank you very much for your input and that's where I'll start at $200
