i like every music genre, everything from rap to classical...

and i like very LOUD MUSIC and good deep bass (HOUSE PARTY LOUD) thoughts on my speaker choice?

price is really no object.. I'm willing go up to 30k for 2 channel setup

several months ago, i thought 2k was good price for speakers now i have raised it to 20k... I might be getting out of hand

$30K for a pair of speakers in addition to the Studio2?

I used to think like that. Then I sold just about everything and got myself a Lexus LX 570. Now I'm saving and planning on adding a Mercedes-Benz G550.

Hey, you want to help me fund my Mercedes G550 and buy my Linkwitz Orion 3.2.1 100% active Bipolar speakers and add them to your collection? :D

But realistically id like to be around the 6-10k range for speakers, plus another few thousand for subs, avr..... ideally like to be around 20k for everything which will have me set for a very long time
im willing to get most of my stuff used... i might return the STUDIO 2.. I'm not sure yet

You can do what I did. Buy 12 pairs of speakers and then sell them all for one brand that you could be truly happy with for the next 30 years.

How big is your room, volume-wise, and how far do you sit from the speakers? The Studio2 and the 802 aren't the best choices for really loud in a huge room.

A 2014 G550 is the single worst vehicle I've ever been in. No contest. Of course, that was on the street. Maybe off-road it would be better, but scratching up a $125K vehicle in the dirt is something mostly sheiks do. BTW, how does a guy who makes $140K per year save for a $125K SUV? Your wife makes $500K?

living room is 30' x 14' .... but i listen to it from all rooms of the house, kitchen is next to living room...when im actually sitting listening to music I'm probably about 10 feet from my speakers

i don't need like PA speaker bar loud, but i like loud music....

my reciever vol is usually set to no louder than 0.0db...most of the time its set to -12.5db

i like the studio 2, but i'll probably be returning them and get something else, but I'm going to keep my monitor audio 8's i like them a lot, they get pretty loud

my HT room will around 20' x 14' with being about 8' from the TV

Our household income is $160,000 if that matters

I'm very open to trying to listening and possibly buying speakers based on some recommendations from here

Your income is none of anyone's business. ADTG once posted his, and I was just giving him a hard time over buying ~$200K worth of SUVs.

Your room is pretty good size. For loud to sound good it needs low distortion and no compression, which often means a bunch of drivers. Like some of those RBH things ADTG markets, or various models from Legacy Audio, to name two.

Why are you returning the Studio2s? Because of some posts here, or because you're not happy with the sound?

You might look at some Klipsch Palladium speakers. The P17 Palladium bookshelf do not measure badly. For your tastes, you will need some good subs. I might also look at some Funk Audio speakers and sub in that budget. They will get loud with accuracy and look terrific.

not sure I'm exactly happy with the sound... for some reason i really like the diamond series now.... i just want the best bang for my buck... I don't really need extremely house party loud music but i do like LOUD music.. I'm sure if i give the speakers some good juice they would get plenty loud

Shady right now I'm using the Rhythmic F15 sub and JL Audio f212, I'm happy with it so far.... the f212 is going togo in my HT room with my monitor audio and i'll keep the F15 for my 2 channel music setup

like the
Legacy Audio Signature SE Floorstanding Speakers?

Got that right, we drove one last week when we took the wifes Lexus in for a 30k service at Brumos Motorcars in Jacksonville., The G550 was horrid. Steering slow, the constant interaction of the stability control that will pump the breaks to prevent a lean, feels clumsy on paved roads, gets horrid mileage. The merc dealer told us "its a status suv" and I will leave it at that.

The Revels, both the Studio2 and the Salon2, are controversial speakers. I have a friend who strongly prefers the B&W 802D over my Salon2s, and even when I've shown him that he has a pretty prominent saddle in his listening seat response curve, and that the 802Ds add a Technicolor effect to the upper mids, increasing brightness, he is unperturbed. He thinks the Salon2 sounds too polite. Accuracy may be more accurate, but it is not always more pleasing to some people. :)

The Legacy Focus is actually the one I was thinking of.

Oh, come on, don't rain on my parade!

Cars are so subjective in terms of preferences, just like the audio hobby.

At least, unlike most European vehicles, the MB G550 has one of the best JD Powers Dependability Ratings and Depreciation Rates.

But it's not like I'm buying it next year. It would be a few years. :D

Well, I've never driven one. I've only read about them. :D

Perhaps I may change my mind after I test drive one. :D

And as far as "Status" goes, some people feel that certain speakers and amps are also for "Status", although at a much smaller scale than $120K vehicles. :D

You really need to drive one. I had no preconceptions, since I'm not an offroad sort of guy. A former colleague of mine here in the Bay Area bought one, it was his dream car too, and he brought it along when we went to lunch late last year. I was surprised by how poorly it handled on the street, as a passenger. It felt like a boat on a rough sea over the heaved and pot-holed roads around here. I noticed that he had to concentrate to keep it from wandering while he drove straight. The interior was also nothing special at all.

My friend let me drive back after lunch, and the steering was slow and imprecise, the brakes so-so (I expected much better), and the handling felt worse as the driver than as a passenger. The drivetrain also had some mechanical play in it, like an old heavy-duty 4x4 pick-up, and clunked now and then. I should mention however, my friend loves it, but I think he just loves being seen in it.

Yep agree with Irv, go drive one, and make sure you just don't drive one on those smooth roads and also lean it into a turn and test the breaks.

AMPs, speakers I guess it all depends on what a person likes and can afford. after all we aren't created equal, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express. :D

Darn. Well, maybe I'll just get an old used one just to "have it". I do love the way it looks. :D
