Given the delays on the Rythmik, one can certainly understand your decision. I think you made a good choice with the Shu.

I hope I made a good choice JB. Earlier in this thread ImCloud was saying he thought the Vtf 2 was even better than the LV12R. Obviously, that's debatable because some disagree. But I figure the Vtf 3 should be better than either of them. I don't know that as fact, but I would hope so. Should be for 300 more bucks! Though I do know that more money doesn't always automatically translate into better sound. I've sure read a lot of good things about the Vtf 3 though. I cant wait!

The VTF3 will have some very real advantages over the LV12r, even if you don't push it to loud levels. When the driver does not have to work as hard, it remains that much more linear, so you will get cleaner bass even at modest levels. You are also less likely to have compressed peaks with a more powerful sub. Since it won't be run as hard as a weaker sub, that means the amp and driver are less stressed, and the less stressed they are, the longer they will last, so easier use means better long term reliability. Remember that heat is the enemy electronics reliability. Also, the higher efficiency of a large sub like the Hsu could potentially mean less power draw for the same SPL, which may save a few pennies on the power bill.

Hey Ty, I haven't checked in for a while. You've come a long way from when you ordered a BIC sub! ;)

I'm a big fan of Rythmik, but the Hsu VTF-3 MK5 HP will be a clear step up in performance from the LV12-R. The internet direct subwoofer market is highly competitive and largely driven by forum word-of-mouth. Products that are overpriced, poor quality (or both) get found pretty quickly. So in this audio segment, price is a reasonably good indicator of overall performance.

You'll be very happy with the Hsu, it's arguably the best bang for your buck sub in the world right now.

If you have setup questions, ask here on the subwoofer board or there's a very active thread over on AVS that Kevin from Hsu monitors.

Edit: Here's the thread (started by shadyJ): http://www.avsforum.com/forum/113-subwoofers-bass-transducers/1701929-two-hsu-subwoofers-get-major-upgrades-vtf15h-mk2-vtf3-mk5-hp.html

Hey there GIEGAR. I just thought about you yesterday and had a bit of a laugh. I remembered you telling me that I better watch out or you'd be talking me into buying the Rythmik F15. I actually got pretty dang close. I talked myself out of it at the last moment (while on the phone with Dina at Ascend) and went with the cheaper Hsu. LOL.

I went ahead and started a thread over in the sub section earlier today. Im sure I'll have more questions for you guys. And thanks for the heads up on the AVS discussion. I will definitely be following that thread.

P.S.
Thanks for helping talk me out of the BIC. ;)

I just gotta say again, I absolutely love these Ascends! Been listening to a great deal of music in 2.1 the past week or so. I keep thinking Im hearing music from the center speaker, even when Im out of the main lp. I cant tell that the center is silent until I walk up to the speakers. Sound is crisp, clean, and clear even when streaming, except for a handful of songs I've noticed that have some static/scratching noise (not being caused by the equipment). Anyway, just wanted to say I love my new system! Thanks to everyone who helped me put it together!
