I've started watching this series on Netflix where Scott proves that the Mayans had a colony in the US, the Knights Templar were in Arizona during the 11th Century, and other such episodes that I can't remember off hand. Basically, Scott is trying to prove that America was populated long before the Mayflower or even Colombus ever appeared on the scene. Common theme is that Academia is resisting his work for unknown reasons. Have any of you watched it? What do you think?

Using the theme that Academia (you can also substitute established Religion, Science, The Powers That Be, Stone Masons, etc.) is resisting his work/message for unknown reasons (aka vast conspiracy) is the common denominator for every crack pot that ever discovered how lucrative it was to claim something unusual was true, despite having no evidence to support his unusual claim.

Does he claim the Knights Templar traveled to Arizona in a UFO lent to them by aliens?

Easy. There were numerous Native Tribes populating America long before Columbus. I know you didn't mean it this way, but it was too tempting to resist :D.

Have you watched an episode yet? Until you do, there's no sense talking about it because you won't be able to determine or not if this show is staged or his methodology is flawed, know what I mean? :)

I really don't mean to insult or tweak you about this. But whenever I see a book, TV show, etc. making extraordinary (usually unverifyable) claims, I get skeptical, even cynical, about it. I've seen it too much before to buy it again.

(Does anyone remember a late night radio guy named Art Bell from the 1990s? He made a living hawking cheap but entertaining conspiracy theories.)

Please give me a reason why I should ingnore my cynical tendencies, and watch an episode of Scott Wolter? Why did you like it? And why did you decide it's interesting enough to bring up here? Give me good reason to watch it.

I'm not going to indulge you. Watch it for your own curiosity, not mine. Scott does use science and was called upon several years before his series started to verify authenticity about a rune stone found somewhere in US.

Have you tried these new cryogenically treated cables yet? Until you do, there's no sense talking about it because you won't be able to determine or not if these cables make your music smoother or video crisper, know what I mean? :)

Good sheeple post... follow the mob mentality without even taking an independent look at things. BTW, I'm in the camp where amplifiers sound the same so where the f**k do you get off even associating me with cables?

If you bothered to even look at the cable debates, you would see that I'm one of biggest proponent of cable manufacturer fleecing the general public as I believe, they impart no sonic signature. Do this site a favor and do some research on people and their beliefs before trying to openly dis people.

I never said you were a cable proponent. However, your argument was basically the same thing a cable junkie makes, which is why I posted what I did. You should calm down.

I'm not making the same arguement at all as a cable junkie but then again based on your logic, everyone must make the same arguement as a cable junkie.... "try it and find out for yourself" a suggestion that is made by everyone for many aspects in life.

I asked from the onset of this thread if this was staged or not. But this means taking an effort of watching an episode or two without prejudging it without prior knowledge of the show. If you don't want to watch fine by me but contribute something positive, not an off handed dis. I've watched many episodes of this show and I believe some of thing things discussed are reaching. But there others were the arguments seem well supported.

This is one of the shows we DVR and put on a bedtime to fall asleep. Not an indictment of the show, just that shows with a narrative are good sleepers.

However, I've seen a number of them. As with most shows like this, it raises interesting questions. He doesn't "prove" the answers, but does lend some credibility to the questions. It is an interesting show.

I have watched this show many times. Some episodes there is a pretty good case for, others there seems to be a bit of a reach. Regardless I don't think that everything fits cookie cutter history as it is taught in schools.

For people to simply accept things because "academia" or science said so without forming their own informed opinion, looking at all options and possibilities, is not much different than people accepting that earth was the center if the universe for many decades.

I'm waiting for the episode on The Mayan Gold Speaker Cables unearthed next to the Kentucky meth lab.

Edit: I should have used this caption:

Archaeologists in the Yucatan jungle have already discovered this Ancient Mayan Speaker (no stereo in those days), but so far they haven't located any Ancient Mayan Gold Speaker Cables. Perhaps they need to call in a Forensic Geologist.

How does a person with a BS degree become a forensic geologist? The proper place to present findings such as Wolter has claimed would be in the appropriate scientific journals and not through books or television programming.

You're kidding, right? He, (and the network), do it for the same reason the other "reality" shows do it... the $$$.

If you want to see one of the most extreme, check out Ancient Aliens. Wolter is mild compared to these nuts... but they're both making $$$ from their shows. Crazy like a fox?

What's not for sale  might be a one page list :). ... Ice Road Truckers, Duck Dynasty, Ice Pilots, etc, etc, etc,,,,, Lots of interesting money grabbing going on there.

I like the Wolter show overall despite some episodes really reaching. I think it kind a cool that Americas Stone Henge and Stone Henge align through the summer solstice. I don't know how much of that is a coincident or an accident.
