Burn SL DVDs or burn Blu-Rays?

Which is better burning SL DVDs for playback on a Sony BDPS3200 player or burning Blu-Rays for playback on a Sony BDPS3200 player? This would be for consistency and exclusive burning to SL DVD or Blu-Ray.

Digital files like ripping the Blu-Ray or DVD to external drives than use ImgBurn to make an ISO than use HTPC media client? Which client would be your recommendation? And will that way would be playback on a TV or PC?

Also thank you so much for your reply!

ISO or I prefer high bitrate 1080p MKV with DTS soundtrack.
For playback XBMC/Kodi is my favorite with Plex is second. Kodi is all-in-one, while Plex is server/client.
Kodi supports both BD ISO and with right hardware bit-streaming HD audio .
I like watching movies on large screen.

Thank you so much!

Could you please recommend a tutorial for converting to 1080p with DTS soundtrack?

Thank you so much again! All I need to do is rip the original Blu-Ray with MakeMKV and that will leave it untouched and at the original 1080p with DTS soundtrack meaning no need to touch it with Handbrake or any other encoding software on the market?

Handbrake is mostly used to shrink the size of the files. For example, a bluray disc ripped with MakeMKV is 20-40 GB in size. With Handbrake you can shrink the size of that large file.
Mine were shrunk to about 40% of the original file.

MakeMKV removes the protection. I don't think he needs anything else.
Didn't know that. Thanks.
Never actually had to rip bd, and it's been a while since i ripped DVDs.
What about cinavia?
I know of German software which removes it (forgot the name now)

You can rip with Handbrake too but Handbrake can't break the copy protection. That's why most people use makeMKV for ripping, and then Handbrake for shrinking the size of the file or converting to other formats.

I agree with Lulimet. makeMKV will remove the BD protection, but will usually leave you with a 30-45GB file. Handbrake can then shrink those files down to a much more manageable size while preserving the majority of the quality, depending on settings.

I don't know about cinavia. What titles have cinavia?

*edit*

I googled the cinavia protection. It looks like all dvd and bluray players made in 2012 and later have the cinavia detector in them. Also, the commercially available software used for bluray playback in a PC are required to have cinavia.
WD TV Live media player is able to play cinavia protected bluray rips because it doesn't have a cinavia detector. Also software like Kodi and Plex Home Theater can play titles with cinavia.
MakeMKV does not remove cinavia (no software does) but Kodi and Plex bypass it because they don't have a cinavia detector.

Not quite right. Yes, plex, kodi and most of hardware htpc do not have cinavia detection, but pch with bd drive was required to implement it.
But there is one software which does claim to remove cinavia : http://www.cinexhd.com
