Hello Audioholics
I am going to buy a new 5.1 HT system for mynew HDTV.
My Budget is almost 512(US)$
I'm from Bangladesh.
Here are only a few known brands e.g Yamaha,SONY,Philips,Samsung,LG. I've a lots of searching for buying a better Home theater system.I've decided to build a custom set by various brand. But due to low budget & some other cause I can't decide which one i should buy. This low budget only covers very beginning type Home Theater systems(In a box type)
There is only a "SONY BDV E-290" or "PHILIPS HTS 3340" or "LG965TZ" & same Grade any SAMSUNG model
The models above every one has a dvd or blu-ray player along with an av receiver. But i don't need a Blu-ray player.I just want to buy an AV receiver unit so that i can customize it later with various speakers
In Bangladesh 545(US)$ = 42,510 Tk.
Here,In Bangladesh those products which have come from other country has a big amount of tax.
So we have to pay lot for TAX.As a result i have to buy very basic type Home theater(like the sonyBDV E-290) in 545(US)$ only !!!!!! :(:(
I've also check YAMAHA YHT-1840.but it is so much costly for me.
in other way i had decided to buy parts separately but an AV receiver is also so much costly that i can buy the AV receiver from YAMAHA & 2 Front Stereo speakers only & i have to wait for the others speakers until i can make enough budget
I want a 5.1 Home theater system with a separate AV unit
But my budget don't permit it.Now i have only choice with that SONY,PHILIPS,SAMSUNG models.
I prefer SONY among them But that Sony model doesn't have satisfactory specs
So what should i do now ??
Give me suggestion

That is your best option if you want sound quality.
Sony's Core speakers are a good value for great sound on a budget if they are available over there. Pioneer's Andrew Jones speakers are a little less and also a great value, but you did not mention Pioneer.

I would rather have better sound quality than surround-sound or a subwoofer. You can add those later, but for now, you can have a solid music system that covers HT as well.

I agree with KEW. If you buy an all-in-one theater in a box, you will want to replace every component eventually. That means all of your original $s were essentially wasted. If you start with a good receiver and front L/R speakers, you will keep them and simply add additional speakers as you can. It makes much more sense on a tight budget.

You can get a good deal buying "used", but it can be dangerous. I would buy "used" only if I could try it out first, and play with ALL the various functions. If you are not knowledgable enough to understand and exercise all the various functions, I would not buy "used". Or if the seller won't let you try it out, I would not buy. So just be sure it works before you buy it.

Thanx Herbu
But which topic you say i face difficulty with that also
I will definitely try a "used" picece if i buy one & also check various functions of it.
I live in a remote district from Our capital city.
But i can buy them if i go personally to that dealing person and check it.
One thing is good that i have only a branch of SONY in my district.
So if i wish to buy a piece of sony i can order them that & they will bring it for me.
SONY has the only "BDV E-290" available in my budget.
& theres a dealer of YAMAHA in Capital city.
So i can also buy a piece of YAMAHA.
But YAMAHA is so much costly.
Even a single AV receiver of Yamaha does not cover my budget(i don't mention the Front L/R yet !!!!)
So i have 3 opportunity.
1.Buying that model of sony
2.Buying an used AV receiver.
3.I wish if i can buy a master piece of AV receiver of YAMAHA. But it's not gonna possible for budget.
I don't even want to own that type of AV receiver which is actually a dvd or blu ray player.(in a box types)
I agree with you that would be the best if i buy a good receiver & later i can upgrade it to a HT by adding other speakers
In my country SONY imports specific models not as user wants.
So i have to choose among them & that only model was present which covers my budget.
So....?
Should i buy that set of sony ?
