Does ETC 5.1 or Definitive ProCinema 600 must need a reciever?

I am going to buy one of the 5.1 home theater system. But I do not know Should I buy a av reciever with Energy Take Classic 5.1 or ProCinema 600 sets or not. I am going to watch movies via media player on tv. Can I use them without reciever in the first place. Thanks in advance...

Virtually any speaker will work with any receiver, as long as the former are rated for 8-ohms (and these are). You choose your receiver based on your budget and the features you need.
