Waiting rather impatiently for my pre-order. I did not see this in theaters so I am very ready to crank it.

I too have been waiting for this release in anticipation of seeing it at home. While the movie is awesome, I found I had to crank it up to +8 (where '0-+2' is generally is pleasingly loud for similar DTS tracks). Sound was great, but not in your face sonically, more subtle perhaps, allowing us to enjoy the characters, as it should be.

We were going to watch this last night but with all the brown outs I did not want to take any chances after I had one piece of gear die.

Best buy has the Blu-Ray for $15 and the DVD for $10. You can't beat that with a stick.

Oh, great movie. Great picture, sound, music, and one of the most fun movies I've seen in a while. Chris Pratt IS Star Lord.

Depends on the stick. ;) Definitely a fun movie.

Just watched on Blu-ray. I really enjoyed this at the theater and enjoyed it just as much at home, a repeat watcher for sure. Zoe Saldana is no less hot as a moving green screen. The only complaint I can muster at this point is that I felt her character was a little underwritten. While it made sense for there to be a "rock" serious character among the other 3 very funny characters, I wish her character had not been as rigid.

Just a quick observation, when watching it in 2D it's very clear which effects were specifically intended for 3D.

I watched this Wednesday night, and then parts of it again last night. I admit that for the first five-ish minutes, I was like, "Wtf are these guys talking about? This kind of sucks, and I can barely even hear the dialogue." Then it just took off and kept going. :) Thanks to all for the recommendation!

There's something especially delicious about having Uhura now be green. It's as if Kirk had two fantasies collide. :D

I had that same thought. It's all connected. Kirk was with a green woman in Uhura's bedroom in Star Trek, then Uhura becomes green in a Marvel movie, which is owned by Disney which recently purchased Licasfilm and will be releasing Star Wars directed by JJ Abrams. In what universe could ever there be the same director for Star Trek and Star Wars? It interupts the space time continuum in some way right?

Side note, Zoe Saldana seems to always end up in relationships with white men in films....

I doubt there will be any crossovers like that. There will be crossovers with other marvel films eventually.

I watched the 3D version last night. I thought the 3D effects were pretty understated. I guess that's good but I was distracted early on wondering if I put in the right disc.

You're setting the bar pretty low for when I get my 3D TV in about a week. :D

I have only three titles with 3D. The others are The Avengers and Dredd. I haven't watched Dredd in 3D yet but I imagine the slow time stuff would look cool. The Avengers looks pretty cheesy in 3D. The big carrier thing looks more obviously like a model.

I didn't check, but I imagine this one is mostly converted to 3D. I thought the 3D was very good with great PQ, but not among the very best I've seen. Some scenes are different, where they've done something for effect (IMAX scenes since they have black bars instead of full screen like Dark Knight?), like things coming out beyond the edges of the format.

The movie on the other hand, now one of my favorites :)

We got this on netflicks last night. I had high hopes too.

Had a similar impression. I almost called it quits several times, once at 10 min mark, then 18 and again at 30. Between cursing the sound engineer and the plot / script written for a 13 YO. When he was dancing around, spinning and his jacket flared out like a dress.... what the f$%&* am I watching? I think it's what we used to call it douche chills...
My wife was a trooper and kept saying, lets wait maybe it will get better.... it has to get better, it's a 2 hr movie... right?
I know if I was between 10 & 15, I would've liked this movie a little more.
It did have a few good parts.
We'll never get those 2 hrs back. :)

Cheryl vetoed the movie based on it's title. Star, Galaxy, Space, etc are non starters for her. I liked the movie and told Cheryl how she really missed out. This as far as she now knows is the best movie ever filmed.
