Just another crazy idiot. I dunno how much coverage this got outside of central TX. Luckily, he "only" tried to set a building on fire and seemed to be taking shots at buildings. Nobody other than the shooter was hurt.

Anyway, the key line from the article:
Sgt. Adam Johnson fired the single shot that killed McQuilliams from 300 feet away while holding on to two horses, police say.

Now, down here in TX, that's what we call gun control! The cop was actively tending to the mounted patrol horses, had control of 2 horses in 1 hand, fired 1 shot @ 300ft and killed the shooter! I am freaking impressed!

That is how it's done!

Either it is a huge exaggeration on the distance or it was with a long gun.

300ft, one handed, with a pistol would be a miracle shot.

Haha. Yup, it was almost certainly a lucky shot. They haven't released all the details yet.

But, since this guy was working on getting horses situated, I would suspect that it was a shot with a pistol. He was not on patrol, he was tending the horses. If he had time to go get a rifle, you would think he would have had time to secure the horses, and he didn't.
