Looking For a 27" Monitor >$300

Like the title says, I'm looking for 27" or so monitor and trying to stay under $300. So far I've been looking at some of the BenQ models like the GW2760HS and was just wondering if anybody out there had any better ideas of suggestions.

Btw, I just did a search on Amazon for "27 inch monitor" and found a number of positively reviewed models for under $300.

As for an actual suggestion , I've been quite happy with my Samsung S24D590L, and Amazon has the 27" version for $270.

Now see, I tell my kids all the time not to multi-task because they'll just make mistakes.....and yet all I do all day everyday is multi-task................and make mistakes.

I know I shouldn't get hung up on specs, but is a 3000:1 vs a 1000:1 contrast ratio going to make that big of a difference? I don't know diddly about monitors. All I know is I want something that's going to be close to what I'm getting from my Apple monitor.

That Sammy looks amazing and at 32" it would be perfect. Although at $670 + tax I don't think I can justify that after buying that amp. I'll give it an hour and then see how I react

I that stand the only option or does it have the ability to get mounted to a stand? Anything I get will need that ability to get attached to an a mount.

Mine came with an optional wall mount, but I'm not sure if that meets your need.

Nah, I'd really be looking to attach it to something like an ergatron mount.

Very very amateur video editing and a little gaming, but nothing too serious. Mostly video watching, internet surfing, and school work.

Hard to recommend specific monitor, as a guideline if you don't care about video gaming much, then stick with accurate colors and this leaves you with IPS or (a bit better PLS) type panels. Look for obvious things like do you have needed ports (i personally would never buy pc monitor without at-least both VGA and DVI - the rest neat extras)
Check for adjustments (tilt, height) etc. It might not be important now, but could be game breaker later one. if it doesn't have height adjustment at least make sure it supports Vesa plates for future optional arm or stand.

Samsung, Asus and Dell would be probably on my short list. Don't trust LG anymore and Benq is a hit or miss. AOC is direct brand, they actually make panels for bigger brands, but it would a gamble quality/warranty wise.

I also like the lcd monitors with high brightness, with time they get a bit dimmer. Extra brightness not going to hurt at all. aka 300 cd/m2 is better than 250 cd/m2

Maybe he's just at a higher level of math than us where >$300 means less. I think that's the same kind of math congress uses to balance the budget.

Not big fan of Gaming/TN panels (2ms GTG response time is only achievable with TN Panel)

For me features like good color and contrast, Height adjustment and vesa bracket are much more important.

Also, good panels usually lives upto 10 years. Much longer than typical PC upgrade. Considering this - I thing it's prudent not to go too cheap.

So which would be a better bet? The Qnix or the sammy?

Qnix is higher resolution. Windows is not very good with scalling on very high resolutions. qnix is not company i am familiar with.
Samsung is safe bet, while qnix is getting the latest and the greatest
