So what is going on in Missouri

I have no love for the police in that city, but if you shoot at them, you should not be surprised they shoot back.

That city is gone. I say we wall it off, empty out all the prisons in the country, and turn them loose behind the wall. Who's with me?

You're saying the cop began pursuit when he spotted a gun?
That's all it takes, particularly with all that's going on there.

And, apparently the cop was right. Ashhole started shooting.

This article has more info:
Student Vonderrit Myers Jr shot and killed by police officer in St Louis | Daily Mail Online

  • An off-duty police officer, who has not been identified, shot and killed high school student Vonderrit Myers Jr. last night in Shaw, Missouri
  • The officer, who was patrolling the area for a private security company, approached the men after he thought they were acting suspiciously
  • They ran and he could see that Myers had a gun, police said
  • The officer, who was in uniform, reached the man and a scuffle ensued
  • Myers shot at the officer three times before the cop pulled out his own gun and shot at the teen 17 times, killing him, police said
  • The teenager was wearing a monitoring ankle bracelet as a condition of bail in a gun case in June
  • But his family members insist the teenager was unarmed and was holding a sandwich at the time: 'It's like Michael Brown all over again'
  • The newspaper reported that Myers was due in court in November for unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest after he allegedly ditched a gun after jumping from a car that had been involved in a high-speed chase.

Correct:
Protests erupt for second night in St. Louis - CNN.com
While on patrol, the officer saw three men run away as he approached, Dotson said. He chased them after one held up his pants in a way that made the officer believe he may be carrying a gun, Dotson said. The officer tussled with one teen, who ran off, then turned around and fired at least three shots toward him, Dotson said. He returned fire, killing the teen.

What, they actually believe the kid had the right to shoot at the cop but not have him return fire? ..and then he riot over this? Yeah, the public really think highly of them don't they?

I'll bet a lot of people are face-palming and shaking their heads over how this makes them look. It's gotta be embarrassing for them.

The parents are claiming that he was unarmed, and only holding a sandwich. Of course that goes counter to the recovery of a 9mm and casings at the scene, so I'm not sure how they're reconciling that except a belief that the police must be lying / grossly corrupt. However, I'm unaware of any evidence suggesting the gun was planted or anything of that nature.

This poor kid just has the worst luck.
It sounds like it's the second time the sandwich he was eating was mistaken for a gun.:D

As of late, in these situations, we're approaching a situation were the law and justice take a back seat to mob rule, and our current administration in Washington is throwing gasoline on that fire.

I don't necessarily condone the behavior of the Cardinals fans, but the fans were there to watch he game, nothing else, while the protesters were there simply to get attention. Obviously, they succeeded.

There's clearly a deeper level of tension going on that isn't going to get resolved if people just focus on the specific incidents that are bringing it to the surface. The protestors can claim that he just had a sandwich, and the other side can claim evidence of the gun - but IMO, this goes way past that shooting. Yeah, I'm insightful. :D Seeing folks at a baseball game get equally riled up and yell slurs brought it home to me that the riots over those shootings are just a symptom of the larger disease.

Someone else probably said that on page one...but I'm too lazy to go back and reread it all again.

That article puts down and generalizes an entire group of people (Cardinal fans) based upon the actions of a few...because those few fans generalized and put down an entire group of people based upon the actions of a few. Well played, hypocritical web author. Well played.

EDIT: Btw, that wasn't a cut against you at all, Phillip. :)
That's cool, I didn't take it as such :) I'm not a fan of generalizing large groups of people either.

That's what happens when you remove too much crust.
