Gotham starts tonight. I have intentionally not read anything to do with the show hoping to be pleasantly surprised tonight. Anyone looking forward to the show? I am just hoping it is better than Agents of Shield. I really wanted to like Agents but could never really get into it.

Thoughts?

It's an interesting concept and I'm looking forward but with a bit of terpidation. I still remember that ten year case of blue balls that Smallville left me with.

Actually, I like AOS. It started out slow but it did pick up the pace, particularly after The Winter Soldier hit.

Now, I have very high hopes for The Flash. I love Arrow and this is from the same people so I'll be very disappointed if it doesn't live up to that show.

Well, having seen the pilot, I'm pretty impressed. Without giving any spoilers it seems to be a multiple origin story with the focus, so far, on how Gordon and Bullock relate to each other and the penguin gets a start, with a certain athletic lady constantly lurking in the shadows as things happen. Also, some new central characters I've never seen before.

Dark, gritty, and full of action and widdle Brucie seems wise beyond his years.

This could be a winnah!

I agree. I enjoyed it. I think it was well written. It did not go over the top too much with any character. I am looking forward to the next episode. Jada Smith was quite good.

I liked Gotham a lot.

Where's the young Joker, though? :D

You may have already met The Joker. Think about it.

But The Penguin stole the show, IMNSHO.

Yeah, the Penguin was great. :D

Apparently, the Joker is more elusive. So we really don't know which one is truly the real Joker.

"Basically, every episode in the first season will introduce a character that might be a future Joker, each emphasizing aspects of the character's iconography, a card sharp, a flower seller, a clown, or just a guy with a very big grin," according to Bleeding Cool. "All relatively unknown actors. All potentially a Joker. But only one of them being the actual Clown Prince Of Crime."

Still, fans will have to wait and see if the show teases more Joker calling cards throughout the series.

How about the guy on stage auditioning for Fish Mooney?

He's probably just one out of the 16 possible Jokers they'll tease us with the whole season. :D

Apparently the Joker has to be pretty smart with the proclivity towards violence. And there's nothing apparently smart about that guy auditioning for Fish. He seemed timid towards violence. It could just be a Red herring to throw us off.

I liked the first episode of this too. Not sure what angle they're trying to push with Selina Kyle though.

That's Bruce Wayne's girlfriend you're talking about there. :D

I think it's cool that she has some "connection" or bond to him even in their childhood. She is the only one who witnessed his life-altering tragedy. More dramatic that way. Like 2 childhood friends growing up together, but with different life paths. :D

Creative license with the comic version, but I definitly like Gothem, when I really didn't expect too, being the true nerd that I am. If Gotham does follow the origin of the Joker, you already met him, though I have a feeling that they will be taking many more creative licenses, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

And isn't that guy in the police station going to be the Riddler? The one that Mr Gordon spoke to with his partner about the gun?

Liked the show and think it'll be a keeper. Wonder about the time frame though. When is this taking place? Cars look like maybe 90s and 2000s. Clothes and hair look like present time. I guess filming a series that looks like the 30s-40s would be harder and more expensive to make. Still, it has a place on our DVR.

As for when this takes place, I'd say about 15 -20 years before Batman shows up, whenever that is.

I think it's going for a noir feel. The dark city and big old cars add to that. Kinda like "Streets of Fire"did.
