Well it looks like my PB13U took a dump.

I was really hoping that it was a fuse but that isn't the case.

I am in negotiations with SVS right now as I don't think a 4 year old Sledge amp should have taken a dump yet. If you think back, I was one of the first, if not the first, to update both subs with the Sledge when it hit the market. These were definitely first run productions and I have had 100% failure rate on them. The first one died early on and was replaced quickly under warranty, this occurred just a couple of weeks after I sold it.

SVS has always taken good care of me so hopefully we can come out with something we can both live with. As of now they have offered me a $200 discount but that still leaves me paying $400 for an amp.

Under their "bill of rights" it states:

"SVS offers the industry's most comprehensive warranty on all our products. SVS warrants of all its products to be free from defects in the workmanship for 5 years from date of purchase. SVS will even cover shipping costs both ways on the defective part!"

Which seems like I should have another year of coverage on the amp. I was originally speaking to Ed whom I have dealt with many times but this weekend I was speaking with someone I don't know. I feel certain Ed will get involved again during the week and we will find resolution. I will keep everyone updated.

Oh....and I forgot that my Studio 100's sounded good without a sub...

Didn't you just say another amp was cooked in the house? Maybe this has something to do with an electrical even in your home... Ed has always taken care of me, I am sure he will come through..

And what is the reason they are saying they wont cover the amp? If it has a year left it has a year left, I didn't think they prorated stuff????

They're probably not going to honor their warranty because you have insulted one of the names I let infidels call me. :D

The other amp turned out to be a speaker wire that came loose at the banana plug.

Well, after finding my original receipt it turns out I am the one that is wrong. The sub/amp carried a 3 year warranty back then but has now been upgraded to a 5 year warranty.

Regardless, I have tried 6 different subs in my main room and the Ultra is the only one that has stayed there secondary to its great performance. I called Ed and told him to go ahead and send me a new amp and I'll be damned if he didn't take care of me again.

As always, top notch CS from SVS. I can't wait to get the Ultra thumping again.

You got screwed over by Emo and had great experiences with SVS. And, you bought some NHTs.

If I made a s**t-ton more money and had a hot wife, I'd say we could be twins.

Well, and if I'd also gotten a Rotel from Warp...

IIRC my friend purchased a SVS PB Ultra 13 from you several years ago as it was next to your front door.......... if you are not that member in Fort Worth.... sorry. But Mike's SVS had the older BASH amp that after several months it went bad and SVS sent a new digital amp to him free and all was fine until a month ago and the 5 year warranty had expired. Mike had to purchase this 1000 watt digital plate amp but SVS discounted it $200.00 so he was out $400.00. It's a awesome sub and it has not been abused or over driven but I wonder about their amps now. He has another 5 year warranty so lets hope it is not needed. SVS has great Customer Service and there woofers and cabinets are first class but so far their amps have not been very reliable.

That's unfortunate but you know how it goes with electronics; some last a day and some last forever. I have a plasma TV outside that I figured would last 3 months and it is going on 5 or 6 years now. There is no way that it should be out in the elements and work but it does.

The thing is; a warranty is a warranty and a supplier doesn't have to comp you a % if it goes out after it has expired. SVS did Mike and me a favor by offering a discounted amp and that's is one thing that sets them apart from the competition.

I agree SVS Customer Service is awesome. I wish Onkyo C.S. would have treated me the same way when a AVR I had failed 2 times during it's factory warranty and I had to pay for shipping it to have the warranty repairs done and they kept it 3 to 4 weeks each time. One time the resistors went bad for the display and the second time a fried HDMI board. So when the AVR failed again several weeks after the warranty expired I called to send it back again and they refused to fix it free as the warranty had expired. I had many phone calls and explained if they had not taken so long to expedite repairs and I did with out a HD AVR for a total of 6/8 weeks this last HDMI failure would have been in warranty. IMHO Onkyo should have fixed the second HDMI board for free. :mad:
Sorry for the Rant and going off topic as I wish Onkyo would have treated me the way SVS has done you and Mike. Thumbs UP to SVS and the way they treat their customers.

You really need two subs, if only for the sake of symmetry. That empty spot on the right between the speaker and cabinet is really bothering my inner autist...
