I did quite a lot of research on TARA Labs cables before buying them. I bought them online without listening to them (Not a very smart move) but ended up with some really phenomenal cables. It's been a year now and I still love listening to them in my system as well as my Miles Davis jazz collection. I have recently purchased a pair of Cardas interconnects, based upon a friends recommendation. I also found them to be really impressive cables. I guess I’m trying to offer my personal views on how cables do matter in a good audio system...

You can read all the white papers and customer testimonials you want but the rubber hits the road when you compare these hi-glitz cables to a more standard, run of the mill cable without knowing what you're listening to and record your results. Then, what you have to say will be taken with more than a grain of salt.

Welcome to the forum. I'm afraid you will not find many of us here to believe that expensive cables will make any difference in a good performing audio system. If a cable is changing the tone of your music then I don't believe that to be a positive thing. TARA labs, Cardas, and especially Audio Quest are well know for what we refer to as "snake oil sales". This has to do with their advertising and claims that batteries attached to cables and all the skin effect talk, none of which can be scientifically proven, can make your system sound better. Some of these cables are very pretty but I don't need $1000 cables that look nice.

How did you determine that they were impressive cables? How did you come to your conclusions that cables make any difference in sound?

Welcome to the forum and Tara Labs cabling looks very aesthetically pleasing. They sure do dress up a system.

Seriously, I have no life.
Yes, welcome.
I don't listen to my cables at all. waste of time. There is no sound from the cables, I tried. Absolute silence.

I do listen to my speakers reproducing the electrical signals sent to them though. ;)
And, of course the music and dialog.

Enjoy your cables.

I kind of get the impression that you're somehow associated with Tara and you've already been posting similar tidbits using different aliases hither and yon.

For those who don't know or don't remember, a number of years ago Tara was raided by the Feds and an undetermined amount of goods confiscated because they were found to be ordering cables from China and removing the Made In China identification stickers. In the US as well as other countries, consumers are entitled to know where the product they buy was made. I don't know how that played out but I would think Tara paid a fine while admitting no intentional intent to defraud consumers.

For a short time I was a member of Stereophile's audio forum many years ago. In one of the threads, Matthew Bond, a high ranking employee of Tara, was defending and promoting their cables. He pointed out that many users had sung Tara's praises after comparing them to the competition. Even reviewers tipped their hats. Was that hat tipping because to completely remove it might cause their brains to fall out? No doubt worthy of a program on Discovery Channel which sandwiches useful programming material with material to make the population dumber.

Wouldnt you know it, a new member on SP's forum appeared that said he was a user and gave his own testimonial. It was stated, as has been many times before, that how can anyone criticize the offerings if they haven't tried them? Maybe your system wasn't resolving enough or maybe you were a person who just didn't have the auditory ability for fine discrimination. A polite way of saying you're fvcking deaf.

As luck would have it, back then SP published the IP address of all posters. Lo and behold, Matthew Bond and the new poster had the exact same IP address!

'twas too long ago Gene and SP has changed things around with their forum. As I recall, searching the IP indicated it came from the same geographical location as where Tara was located. But a dead match was a bit too coincidental. You could ban the guy but I rather doubt we'll see many more posts.

The same text has been posted on Reddit, WiredState, and some other sites. I hope this isn't what passes for marketing at the university level.

sometimes youul see stuff like this on places like Audiogon where some vendor posts about his latest and greatest followed by other people extolling the virtues. But occasionally, it's the same person and they'll trip themselves up forgetting they've logged in under a different user name. Phony reviews, they're everywhere.

They put stuff up on high traffic sites so that people searching will hit those threads and people browsing might check it out too, generating traffic for them. That's the equivalent of sticking flyers on my windshield that I'm going to throw away.

Yeah, but it's a numbers game. It's cheap to post this crap on loads of web sites and if only a few gullible folks read this, and it reinforces what they have read elsewhere and want to believe, that's another sale for them.

What is doesn't matter. What one believes is what does.

Thats insane.... But I am sure someone has bought a pair at one point in time... A friend of mine paid $3000 to get his La Scalas {2s}internally rewired, they changed the terminal plate {custom machined piece they made in shop}, and gave him a pair of 6ft speaker cables that "matched " his system, $3000 and he swears they sound SO much better now...

$36k for 8ft length! But shipping is only $8.50, what a deal
At those prices, they should include install, cable break-in, and cable calibration in the price :p:p

A fool and his $....
A sucker born every minute....
